It is difficult to find a woman today who does notwould use various means for cleansing and exfoliating the skin. Of course, because cosmetic manufacturers give us this joy in abundance, and everyone wants to be beautiful and well-groomed. But many, unfortunately, do not see much difference between peeling and scrub, although they differ in their effect. In order to understand what is best for you, you need to understand what a scrub and peeling are.
What are the differences between scrub and peeling?
Scrub is an exfoliating and smoothing agent.a product used for regular skin care. Its main functions are the removal of dead cells, various roughness, etc. After using a scrub, the skin becomes smoother, softer and more pleasant to the touch, and the pores are cleaned and opened, receiving free access to oxygen. The basis of the scrub is a cream or gel, to which solid particles of medium size are added. These can be both natural and artificial grains. For example, crushed seeds of some useful plants, crushed nuts, grains of coffee beans, etc. Wax granules or natural salt can also be used. Peeling is very similar to a scrub. The fact is that both a scrub and a peeling help to cleanse the upper layers of the epidermis, giving the skin elasticity and freshness. However, the effect of peeling is aimed at rejuvenating the skin, polishing scars, reducing the intensity of freckles and the brightness of pigmentation and other imperfections. Before using, it is worth testing the peeling on the back of the elbow, as various fruit acids can cause allergic reactions. Scrubs and peelings differ not only in their effect, but also in consistency. Peeling is usually more liquid, gel-like, the particles in it are smaller than in a scrub. They do not scratch the skin as much, but the massage effect during peeling is less pronounced. Chemical peeling is also popular. This is a product based on fruit acids. At home, such peeling is done with sour apples, lemon juice, and berries. It is not recommended to do such procedures if the skin is prone to various allergic reactions, hypersensitivity to the components, abundant rashes and acne. You should avoid the area around the eyes, as the skin there is very delicate and the active substances of the peeling can cause swelling and puffiness. Also, a scrub or peeling should not be used if there are fresh scars and severe irritation, and of course, with skin diseases. It is better to wait until the skin returns to normal and only then proceed to cosmetic procedures. It is not advisable to use these products during a cold, since the skin during this period becomes especially sensitive to external irritants, which are scrubs.
By the method of application, scrubs and peelings also differ
Scrub:
- A small amount of the product must be appliedon clean, slightly moist skin of face and neck. Lightly massaging movements spread the product over the entire surface of the skin. Gently rub into the skin for 3-5 minutes, then remove with a cotton swab or a wash cloth.
Peeling:
- Apply the product to the skin, avoiding the area aroundeye, lightly massage your face and leave for a couple of minutes. Rinse the peeling with cool water. Take care that the remedy does not remain on the skin, otherwise there is a risk of earning irritation.
Use scrubs and peels more often than 1-2 timesper week is not worth it, as the skin simply will not have time to recover. After the procedure, it is best to make a nourishing mask and apply a moisturizer. Ideally, before doing mechanical cleaning, you should steam your face in a hot bath so that the pores open and the effect of the cleanser is maximum. As you can see, you cannot confuse a scrub and a peeling, despite their similarity. Many manufacturers go for a trick and produce so-called enzyme peels, which, in fact, are scrubs, which means they should be used with the same frequency as scrubs. It is also impossible to say unequivocally which is better, a peeling or a scrub. Everything depends on the type and sensitivity of the skin, as well as on the goals that are most pressing at the moment: removing dead skin or gentle polishing. It is better to combine these products and use them regularly. For a scrub, 1-2 times a week is enough, but a peeling can be used once a month for deep skin cleansing. The decision is yours!
