Do you think avocado oil can helphair have any benefits? And what is it about it that makes it so valuable for our locks? Many sources provide impressive lists of the beneficial substances found in avocado oil and then reveal the reasons why all these nutrients affect the growth and condition of our hair.
Nutrients that stimulate hair growth
First of all, I would like to debunk someavocado myths. Or rather, the most important of these myths is that avocado oil contains a lot of protein. This is not true. After all, it is obtained by removing proteins, carbohydrates, and other substances that are not fats. Take a look at the nutritional information on the label of a bottle of any oil, and you will see that the protein content is usually zero. The oil is obtained from the pulp of the avocado fruit. In terms of fatty acid content, it is very similar to olive oil, since the oleic acid content in its composition is especially high. High-quality avocado oil contains:
- 76% - oleic and palmitoleic acids;
- 12% - polyunsaturated fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic);
- 12% - palmitic and stearic acids.
While fresh avacado is greatWhile avocado oil is a great source of vitamins and minerals, the oil itself does not contain the same range of these nutrients. Even cold-pressed oil, which is created through a downright "gentle" process, is still created by separating the fat mass from the rest of the pulp (the flesh of the fruit). This will remove many of the water-soluble vitamins from the mixture for the most part. However, the fat-soluble vitamins do remain concentrated in the oil. Finally, although the oil does contain omega-3 fatty acids, the amount is still relatively small. Fish oil or flaxseed oil, for example, contain more of them. But what is much more important in terms of hair benefits is the extremely high content of monounsaturated fatty acids in avocado extract. There are even more of the latter than in olive oil, and this is one of the main reasons why avocado oil can be considered so beneficial for your hair. Massage mixtures based on avocado, which are rubbed into the scalp, stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles. With increased blood flow and improved blood circulation in the scalp, many more nutrients are able to reach the follicles, which generally leads to stimulation of new, strong and healthy hair growth. Finally, another obvious benefit of avocado in hair care is its monounsaturated fatty acids, phytosterols and a large number of antioxidants, such as vitamin E, which are well absorbed into the scalp and hair roots. This not only has a high moisturizing and protective effect against adverse external conditions, but can also stimulate new hair growth.
The use of avocado oil for your ringlets
So, to sum up everything that has been said, we can draw the following conclusions:
Three ways to use avocado oil
Below we present three recipes that will help improve the appearance of your curls, giving them strength and shine.
- Heat treatment
Mix 3-5 tablespoons of avocado oil (independing on the length of your curls) and 3-5 tablespoons of olive oil. Heat in a saucepan over low heat until the mixture reaches a comfortable temperature for your scalp. If you wish and can, add a few drops of rosemary essential oil (you can use lavender or sandalwood; but rosemary is known to be best for the scalp and hair). Apply the mixture to washed hair and gently massage the scalp for a few minutes. Put on a shower cap, and then wrap your head in a warm towel. Leave this "construction" to warm your head for 15-20 minutes. Then rinse your curls, but do not apply conditioner, since each strand has already received enough nutrition. When your hair dries, you will even be surprised how bright and shiny it will become!
- Home air conditioning
Whisk together 2 tablespoons avocado oil, 2tablespoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of honey and 3 tablespoons of natural (yes, natural!) yogurt. Before washing your hair, apply the mixture to damp hair, then put on a cap and hold for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with a mild shampoo. You don’t need to apply conditioner after this! Avocado oil for hair has already softened and nourished your locks.
- The easiest way
It's really very simple.After washing your hair, pour a commercial conditioner into your palm and add some avocado directly to it. Apply to your hair and rinse thoroughly with water. And last but not least, use avocado oil to prepare, for example, salads. Your proper nutrition is as important for your hair as caring for it with the help of an extract from the healthy fruit avocado!
