This apartment was bought not for life, but forbusiness. It was supposed to be leased from the very beginning. “Such an interior should“ catch ”at first sight: it should be catchy, funny and memorable - like a room in an expensive fashionable hotel,” Karina explains. The clients did not have strict requirements for the project. It would seem that this is the freedom that any creative person dreams of! But since investing millions in the design is unprofitable, Karina had to work hard so that the savings did not go to the detriment of quality and beauty. She used several techniques that allowed her to create an interesting interior without going over budget.

The apartment is located in the residential wing of the hotel."Ukraine"; The entourage of the Stalinist high-rise willy-nilly brings up "thoughts about the past." Not surprisingly, at first the customers offered to arrange it in a conservative manner. But Karina insisted on a more modern solution. “People often think that the enfilade layout and stucco require a mandatory addition in the form of classic furniture,” she says. - I disagree with that. I don't like frontal solutions. ” Defending her point of view, the designer did not just fight for the right to self-expression. The apartment from her perseverance only won. The combination of traditional architecture and modern furniture looks respectable. At the same time, the interior does not put pressure on the tenant with a heavy load of the past. There is no torture in it, which is often felt in the apartments, where the “historical truth” was purposefully recreated.
Thanks to the classic enfilade layout, the interior looks noble and respectable.
The doors were made and artificially aged in the workshops of the “School-design studio” according to Karina’s sketches.

The trump card of this interior is unusual.color spectrum. The combination of deep olive and rich chocolate shades looks unexpected and bold. In Russia, people rarely use such dark colors for fear that an apartment will turn out cramped and gloomy. Karina has her own opinion on this: “The bright range allows you to visually expand the space, but this does not make the house more comfortable. Moreover, in cloudy weather, light painted walls become an unpleasant faded shade. ” Selected Carina colors of bad weather are not afraid. Even in the chilly day they give a feeling of warmth and evoke pleasant gastronomic association.
A sensible budget approach has allowedinvest in an expensive couch from Baker. Above him is the picture of Valery Pesin. Its coloring emphasizes the rich color of the walls. On another wall are pages from the Koran and engravings purchased for the occasion in Istanbul. The wardrobe in the hallway is made in Belarus. Karina found this factory on an ad in the newspaper: "They have everything, like in Europe: they work under the order and offer several finishing options."

"For me, an interior with bare walls is generallynot the interior, ”says Karina. Indeed, try to imagine this space without paintings and engravings, and it will immediately lose its face! The rich color of the walls will fade, the feeling of home comfort will melt. In general, all that favorably distinguishes this interior from monotonous apartments for rent, in which the spirit of ownerlessness and homelessness soars, will disappear.

Hidden reserves
As you know, real art is priceless. Therefore, the very idea that it can be saved on it seems seditious. But look at the problem from the other side - the way Karina did. For her, the value of art objects is not measured by the market value, but by the ability to work on the interior. For example, black and white photographs in the bedroom are nothing but framed pages of the calendar, once received as a gift from neighbors in the office. In general, in this apartment there are a lot of items that have become successful and very profitable finds of the designer (details are in the signatures). The main thing, says Karina, is not to turn the economy into an end in itself.
Next to the bed, one of the most unexpected finds of the designer is the chair of the Noginsk factory.
The apartment was conceived as housing for a loner, so the kitchen here is small. But the dining room is big!
Do not be cheap!
“When planning a budget, you need to remember that there is a wholea number of positions that require generous investment. It’s absolutely impossible to save on them! ”- warns the designer. First, it is a plumber, and secondly, an electrician. Thirdly, wooden double-glazed windows - economical plastic windows at once cross out all the advantages of the interior. Fourth, the kitchen - it can not be cheap and beautiful at the same time. Fifth, good curtains - with them the interior looks much more expensive. And, finally, you can never skimp on ideas. Indeed, as Karina wisely remarks: “If there is not enough money, you have to take it with fantasy”
