“And the years fly by, our years, like birds flying…”And now we have approached the fatal (in the opinion of many ladies) mark of “40”. But let’s not be old-fashioned! In the century before last, forty years was a woman’s age. But today’s forty-year-olds are capable of starting a career from scratch, getting married (even if not for the first time), and even becoming a young mother. Now that’s progress! However, let’s not deceive ourselves and pretend that we don’t see how our skin is starting to age. But we won’t despair either. And since Makropulus’s remedy hasn’t been invented yet, we’ll just try to follow all the rules that should be followed for facial skin care after forty years.
Skin features after the forties
By the age of forty, the skin condition enters a stagefading. This is not yet aging, but already the first and obvious signs of age. After forty years, physiological age-related changes begin to manifest themselves more and more intensively, and their signs become more and more noticeable. Forty years is the threshold after which the process of involution (the opposite of evolution) begins. And how does this process manifest itself?
- Degradation of connective tissue elements
Dystrophy (deficiency of nutrients) beginssubstances, depletion) of connective tissue. Its collagen fibers become thicker, some of them disintegrate or stick together. As a result, the skin loses elasticity and begins to sag. Skin turgor (water saturation) also decreases and dehydration begins, as a result of a decrease in mucopolysaccharides.
- Decreased function of the sebaceous glands or atrophy
The skin becomes dry and more susceptible to harmful environmental influences. Incidentally, oily skin ages more slowly.
- Thinning of the epidermis
It is the decrease in the thickness of the hypodermis that causes the appearance of fine wrinkles: the skin begins to gather into folds.
- Disturbance of microcirculation
The permeability of the vascular wall changes, resulting in the appearance of spider veins and telangiectasias (visible superficial blood vessels).
- Changing the hormonal background
Age status is shown by hair growth aboveupper lip. This is not a pathology, but a completely natural and logical process. But so far all these changes remain quantitative, not turning into quality. And they are still visible only on some problem areas of the skin:
- Corners of the eyes, where the characteristic "crow's feet" begin to appear;
- The skin of the eyelids, which becomes heavier and gathers into folds;
- Nasolabial fold, the depth of which begins to increase, and the fold itself becomes more noticeable and "more expressive".
So, the skin becomes thinner, dry, andtherefore loses freshness and elasticity. Therefore, facial skin care after forty years should be somewhat different. Face care should now be more careful and thorough than before.
The concept and rules of skin care
Let's start, perhaps, with a general concept that needs to be followed. What procedures should facial care include after forty?
Proper skin care after forty years comes down to the following:
- Daily morning and evening procedures with the use of special cosmetics;
- Weekly masks or compresses for the face (moisturizing, nourishing, rejuvenating);
- Monthly visits to the cosmetology room (peeling, lifting, mesotherapy);
- Full sleep and proper nutrition;
- Massage and physical education.
In addition, after forty years you can starttake medications (based on ginseng or golden root, for example) that slow down aging. Taking such medications is also a kind of skin care. Just be sure to consult with your doctor!
Masks for face
Facial care is not limited to just applyingcosmetics. Face masks are what your skin especially needs after forty years. You need to do masks at least once a week, with the exception of paraffin and protein masks, which are done once a month. Believe me, they will definitely have a beneficial effect on the condition of the skin, but only if such care is systematic.
- Rejuvenating masks are made on the basis of cottage cheese, honey and lemon.
- Nourishing masks - yeast, cottage cheese, fresh vegetables and fruits, eggs.
- Cleansing masks - honey, oat flakes with the addition of vodka or glycerin.
Honey face masks will soften, cleanse anddisinfect the skin. Masks with aloe juice tone the skin and promote the regeneration of its cells. All fermented milk products perfectly nourish the skin, eggs and yeast smooth it. Only you need to choose masks according to the skin type and use only natural and fresh products for them. After forty years, your skin is still good. But you can’t fool nature - aging is inevitable. It is impossible to prevent it, but you can slow it down. And there is only one tool for this - proper care. Just be more attentive to yourself, pamper and cherish your face (in the literal sense of the word). Of course, you need to take care of your facial skin at any age, but after forty years you just need to do it more carefully. Always stay beautiful! We recommend reading:
