Excessive sweating is not only annoyingAdults - pediatricians also often have to deal with this problem. Excessive sweating in children occurs very, very often. However, not all parents notice it right away, because children's sweat has no smell. Therefore, this fact is usually discovered completely by accident - by constantly wet T-shirts and / or hats. It is no secret that children's health is the most valuable thing there can be. That is why parents often panic when they see drops of sweat on their children's skin. However, you should not be too scared - most often, children sweat profusely simply because they spend too much energy during their active games.
Possible diseases
But it is also not possible to leave the problem without attention at allin no case should you, since in some cases excessive sweating in children can actually be a sign of health problems. But, fortunately, this happens quite rarely. In any case, parents need to tell their pediatrician about this, who will examine the child and determine the cause of sweating. Most often, the following diseases are accompanied by excessive sweating:
- Cardiovascular diseases
Almost all similar diseasesaccompanied by excessive sweating. And most often this happens at night and in the morning parents find that the pillowcase is damp. And the sweat itself is quite specific - it is cold and sticky. You should never ignore such sweating - show the child to the doctor as soon as possible.
- Vegetative dystonia
With this disorder, sweating makes itself knownknow mainly when the baby is actively moving. And distinguishing it from normal physiological sweating, which occurs due to physical activity, is not so easy.
- Rickets and even a simple lack of vitamin D
In case of vitamin D deficiency and especially in case ofrickets profuse sweating - almost the very first sign of pathology. Most likely, rickets will be the first cause that the doctor will exclude or confirm.
- Hyperfunction of the thyroid gland
If there are problems with the thyroid gland, increased sweating in a child can be observed even when the child is at absolute rest and the ambient temperature is low.
- Common colds
Rarely does a child get a cold withoutincrease in body temperature. And against this background, heavy sweating is quite natural - firstly, this is how the body regulates temperature, and secondly, toxins are removed with sweat. However, even after the child has recovered, sweating may persist for some time. This is completely normal, the body just needs some time to return to its usual way of life. As a rule, this takes from three to seven days.
- Pharmacological preparations
In addition, in some cases, excessive sweating may occur due to the fact that the mother took certain pharmacological drugs during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding.
Other causes of sweating
Fortunately, in most cases the reasonsexcessive sweating in children has nothing to do with your baby's health. This means that parents can cope with this problem on their own. The main thing is to be observant.
- Ambient temperature
The first reason that needs to be ruled out is- this is an excessively high air temperature: either outside or indoors. And remember that a child perceives temperature a little differently than adults. For example, for a child the optimal temperature is 18-20 degrees. Agree, for an adult it is not so much.
- Baby Clothes
Many parents are always afraid that the childcatch a cold. As a result, they always try to dress him warmer. And sometimes they wrap him up too much. As a result, there is increased sweating even if it is quite cool indoors or outdoors. Therefore, first of all, check whether the child is dressed too warmly. Especially if he is quite active - active children sweat much more often. In addition, it would not be superfluous to pay attention to what materials the clothes are made of. Synthetic materials are extremely undesirable for a child, as they disrupt normal heat exchange and do not allow air to pass through. Ideally, all clothes should be made of natural materials - cotton or linen.
- Emotional background
Sometimes parents notice that beads of sweat appear onon the child's skin after an emotional outburst. And it doesn't matter whether these emotions are positive or negative - the result is always the same. Doctors say that there is no reason to worry about this. The only exception is when, in addition to sweating, the child has blue lips and/or nails, nasolabial triangle, trembling hands and/or chin. Such symptoms may indicate the presence of heart disease or nervous system disease.
How to help the child?
If the reason for your child's excessive sweating is- a medical problem, then only a doctor should solve it. No self-medication is allowed in this case. But if everything is fine with your health, then simple proper care is enough:
- Dress up the child
As soon as the child starts sweating, immediatelychange his clothes. Firstly, the child is not very comfortable in wet clothes, and secondly, the child can easily catch a cold. And from the point of view of hygiene, the child's clothes should be clean.
- Keep your hygiene
Of course, hygiene must be carefully monitored.in any case, regardless of whether the child sweats or not. But for a child prone to excessive sweating, a little more will be needed. First, wash the child's skin every time he sweats heavily. Second, do not forget about medicinal baths.
- Therapeutic baths
Not a bad tool that can helpreduce sweating - these are medicinal baths. For example, a bath with a decoction of oak bark. Bring a liter of water to a boil, pour in three tablespoons of crushed oak bark, reduce the heat and boil for 15 minutes. Then cover the pan with a lid, wrap it in a thick terry towel or blanket and let it brew for three hours. Be sure to strain the decoction! In the evening, add the decoction to the bath - let the child stay in it for about 10 minutes. Sage decoction is also an excellent solution to the problem of excessive sweating. Place two tablespoons of dry sage in a small saucepan, pour in a liter of water and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat and boil for 15 minutes. When the decoction cools, it needs to be strained using gauze. The bath is prepared in the same way as in the previous recipe. But remember - before doing this, be sure to consult a pediatrician. In addition, you need to carefully monitor the reaction of the child's skin to exclude a possible allergic reaction. But in fairness, it should be noted that this happens very rarely. And in most cases, the problem resolves itself, without any outside interference. And this happens when the child grows up a little.
Problem in adolescents
Of course, teenagers are not really children. But it is not adults! Therefore, we cannot help but mention them as well. Moreover, profuse sweating for a teenager is practically a normal phenomenon. The reasons for this phenomenon are simple - a change in hormonal levels, which is typical for adolescence. And the main task of parents is to teach the child the rules of personal hygiene. Depilation of armpits, the use of deodorants will solve this problem. Well, if sweating is pathologically excessive, show the child to an endocrinologist. In some cases, such sweating may indicate the presence of one or another pathology. We recommend reading:
