Clear rules on how to properly care forbaby, does not exist. With this fact every mother faces - she will have to build her own scheme of caring for the little one. It's because every child is unique. So you have to be yourself an expert.
Without water - and there, and no syudy?
British scientists (don't laugh,(they conduct serious research, after all) identified a new health risk for infants. It concerns... water. Everybody talks about how healthy it is. But doctors say that this statement does not apply to infants. Giving water to a newborn can lead to water intoxication, seizures, coma - and death. So what should you do? Don't let children drink? Yes, that's what doctors say. At least until the child is six months old. After that, you can give the baby a sip of water. - Breast milk or formula completely satisfies a child's need for water, - says Katie Zeratsky, a nutritionist at the Mayo Clinic. - Even when it's hot, milk or formula is enough to prevent dehydration.Photo: GettyImages
What is the danger?
Researchers claim that breast milkor milk formula contains all the nutrients necessary for babies: proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins. And water washes away vital components from the baby's body or dilutes them so much that they are not absorbed. But children need to grow - their energy needs are much higher than those of us adults. Water, of course, will suppress the feeling of hunger, but it will not satisfy the child's energy needs. For the same reason, nutritionists once again remind that it is important to dilute the milk formula in the right proportions.
Living dead water
Katie Zeratsky says too much water cancan even be fatal. “If you drink too much water in a short period of time, your blood sodium levels can drop to critical levels,” says the nutritionist. “This is called water intoxication. This condition can lead to tragedy. And if, as an adult, you force yourself to drink the required amount of water, you can also “overdrink” your child.” “Cases where a child drinks too much water are quite rare. But not impossible,” warns Katie. See also:
