Knowing this, many young mothers heroically endure pain, fearing for the health of the baby. But is heroism always needed? There are medicines that can alleviate the condition of a woman and not harm the child. The World Health Organization has established which painkillers can be taken during lactation without harm to the child.

Paracetamol

Perfectly relieves pain, reduces temperature, has a weak anti-inflammatory effect. Analogues: Panadol, Efferalgan, Strimol. Available in tablets and suppositories. Long-term studies have not proven the negative impact of paracetamol on the development of the fetus and infants. The concentration of the active substance entering breast milk is only 20% of the dose taken. This is less than the dosage recommended by doctors to reduce the temperature in case of illness of the baby. In case of severe headaches and toothaches, painful menstruation, neuralgia, high temperature - the mother can take a pill without worrying about the consequences. The main rule: the medicine should be taken immediately after feeding, since the elimination period is 2 hours.

Ibuprofen

Painkillers during lactation, approved for useapplication, should not penetrate into milk in high concentrations. Such medications include Ibuprofen - a non-steroidal drug that provides rapid pain relief. In pharmacies, similar drugs are sold under the names: Nurofen, Ibuprom, Ibufen. The drug is prescribed to infants from 3 months of age. If the pills are taken by a nursing mother, there is no threat to the health of the child.

Diclofenac

Despite the fact that the instructions for the drugthere is a ban on taking during lactation, doctors prescribe the drug to mothers in cases of severe pain. Diclofenac quickly binds to blood proteins, so it is almost not found in breast milk. The drug has a strong analgesic effect, relieves inflammatory processes in the body. Sometimes it is difficult to do without it. And yet it is better to consult a doctor before deciding on treatment with this drug.

Prohibited Drugs

Popular Analgin (active ingredient –Metamizole) can harm the baby even if taken once by the mother. In some countries, Analgin is generally prohibited from sale in pharmacies. Similar drugs: Ronalgin, Dipiron, Tempalgin, Baralgin. If there is no way out, then the tablet should be taken 2-3 hours before feeding. Another undesirable drug is Nimesulide (Nise, Nimesil, Nimid). Doctors do not recommend taking the drug during lactation, since its effect on the child has not been fully studied. Nimesulide is contraindicated for children under 12 years of age. The responsible period of breastfeeding is not the time for experiments. Before starting treatment, you must consult your doctor. Read more:
