Anyone knows that if the temperaturebody temperature has increased, something is wrong with the body. But pregnancy is an exception to the rule. It is very difficult to predict the body's reaction to the birth of a new life. It depends on many factors. So, an elevated temperature in the early stages of pregnancy is not a reason to be upset. Let's talk about this in more detail.
Causes of temperature increase
High temperature during pregnancyis most often not considered a pathology. After all, during this period, the pregnant woman's body undergoes hormonal changes. As a result, the heat transfer process slows down significantly and the temperature rises. In the first weeks of pregnancy, the temperature can rise a little more than 37 degrees. Do not let this scare you, of course, if you do not notice any other painful symptoms. The production of a hormone (progesterone) also causes a slight increase in temperature. This is a normal reaction of the body to pregnancy, but if you have any doubts, consult a doctor and take the necessary tests. Another reason for the increase in temperature can be overheating of the body. If the room in which you are for more than one hour is poorly ventilated, your body can react to such a microclimate with a slight increase in temperature. But this can be easily fixed. Timely ventilation will relieve you of discomfort. Subfebrile temperature does not rise above 38 degrees. You can attribute such an increase to pregnancy. But it is better to trust the doctors. In addition to the fact that such a temperature makes you tired and broken, it can indicate the presence of an inflammatory process in the body. This could be an ectopic pregnancy, which is very dangerous for any woman. Your first step in this situation should be a visit to the gynecologist with whom you are registered or are going to register. If no pathologies are revealed during the examination, make the next visit to the therapist. Most likely, you will have to take a "bunch" of tests, but this is necessary, since now you need to take care not only of your health, but also of the baby's health. There are a number of other reasons on which the temperature depends. As for asymptomatic diseases, these can be tuberculosis, pyelonephritis, herpes, cytomegalovirus and a number of other diseases dangerous for the unborn child. Of course, any disease affects the health of the fetus. But much also depends on the duration of your pregnancy. In the early stages (from 1 to 3 weeks), a serious illness can cause a miscarriage or cessation of development. And if this does not happen, then, most likely, nothing terrible will threaten the child. But if the infection gets into your body a little later (during the 1st trimester), when the main organs of the child are being formed, it can lead to pathology of fetal development. Such defects as pathology of the eyeballs, upper lip and palate, jaw are possible. If the temperature above 38.5 degrees lasts for more than a day, this can affect the development of the brain and facial skeleton. High temperature in pregnant women leads to disruption of protein synthesis and poor blood supply to the placenta, at a later stage - to premature birth (since the risk of uterine contraction increases). Having weighed all the pros and cons, a decision is made to terminate or maintain the pregnancy. An infectious disease is less dangerous after 12 weeks, when the formation of the placenta is already complete. What is more dangerous for pregnant women: high temperature or factors that cause its increase (viruses, bacteria)? Science has not yet found a reasoned answer to this question.
Shoot down the temperature or not?
The reasons for the temperature, as already mentioned above,are different, which means that the steps to reduce it cannot be the same for everyone. There are various methods for reducing the temperature. This can be done with the help of medications or folk remedies. If during the first trimester of pregnancy your temperature does not exceed 37.5 degrees, then you will not need advice on reducing the temperature. Do not worry, it is better to go for a walk, do your favorite thing, eat more fruit and do not think about the bad. Even if the temperature rises during illness, but not higher than 37.5 C, do not bring it down. Give the body the opportunity to fight viruses and acquire immunity. This is a protective reaction of the body, preventing the development of infection. But if your thermometer has crossed the line of 38 degrees, it is time to act. First, ventilate the room, the room should not be hot (the optimal temperature is 22-25 degrees). Do not wrap yourself in warm clothes. Clothes should be light and made of natural fabrics. A large amount of liquid will only be beneficial. These can be various compotes, teas or just water. And don't forget to call a doctor!
The use of preventive measures
There is one surefire way to avoid getting sick. It is prevention. Future mothers simply need to strengthen their immune system. What does prevention include?
- quality and proper nutrition (fruits, vegetables);
- hardening (start preferably before pregnancy);
- not to visit crowded places (especially during the epidemic of influenza and ARVI);
- clothes for the weather (do not freeze and do not overheat);
- in the autumn-winter period, vitamin complexes are needed;
- ventilation of premises;
- observance of personal hygiene.
If someone in the family gets sick with the flu or something elseviral disease, then ask your loved ones to wear gauze bandages and use garlic and onions as a preventive measure. It is not necessary to eat them, you can simply spread them around the rooms in a peeled form. These crops emit phytoncides that protect us from many bacteria and viruses. Another means of preventing colds is a decoction of lemon balm. It contains a large amount of vitamin C. As an alternative to lemon balm, you can eat more citrus fruits, but then an allergy is possible. Be careful. If you were unable to protect yourself from a cold and fever, do not overload yourself with work, refuse walks and other activities. Do not waste your body's energy on anything other than fighting the disease. Carefully monitor the increase in temperature and take timely measures to reduce it.
Low temperature during pregnancy
There are known cases when during pregnancythere is no increase in temperature, but its decrease. The reason may be the characteristics of the body. And such a condition will not harm the future baby. But, along with the individual characteristics of the body, a low temperature may also indicate fatigue or toxicosis. Also, a low temperature may be a symptom of a malfunction of the endocrine system. The consequences of a prolonged decrease in temperature can be weakness, dizziness and even fainting. A low temperature over a long period is a reason to go to the doctor for every pregnant woman. Temperature monitoring during pregnancy is necessary not only in the early stages, but also throughout the entire period of bearing a child. Measure your temperature daily, and your body will let you know in time about all the changes happening to you. Once again, we remind you that pregnancy brings significant changes to your body. The early stages of pregnancy involve the formation of the baby's organs, and their health largely depends only on you. Pay close attention to your health, and the result will not be long in coming. React to any change in temperature by going to the doctor, do not self-medicate. Let your children grow up strong and healthy!
