“Where the world is heading,” proclaims patheticallymy mom. - In our time, it was customary to respect old age. To give way to an elderly person, to help carry a bag is the norm of behavior. And now? These youngsters are rude, rude, behave like a pig. ”Well, yes, not without it. Scientists say it’s the fault of the advanced grandparents: they don’t really want to babysit their grandchildren. After all, the children were raised, then let them somehow cope with their own problems somehow. And it also happens that young parents do not get along well with the older generation and do not want them to interfere in the upbringing of children. And the one and the other, taken to the extreme, is bad. And that's why.should grandmothers sit with their grandchildrenPhoto:GettyImagesIt turns out that if children have a good relationship with their grandparents, the benefits of this are not only warm emotions, great gifts for New Year and birthday, and an extra minute of freedom for mom and dad. It turns out that such a close connection affects how children treat older people in general. A new study published in the scientific journal Child Development says that children who enjoy spending time with their grandparents treat the elderly with much more respect and sympathy. The experiment by scientists from the University of Liege in Belgium involved 1,151 children aged 7 to 16 in the French-speaking part of Belgium. The children were asked what they thought about old people and about aging in general. At the same time, they were interested in the relationship of the “guinea pigs” with their grandparents, how they feel, and how often they see their grandchildren. It turned out that children who spend time with their grandparents usefully and with pleasure have the most favorable opinion of the elderly. One meeting a week was enough to notice the difference. But the quality of the meetings was more important than the quantity – it is important that the children enjoy communicating with their older relatives. And this is impossible if they show no interest in their grandchildren. And even gifts will not fix the situation. “For most children, grandparents are their first and most frequent contact with the elderly, which can greatly influence the formation of the correct worldview,” the scientists summarize.
