Antibiotics allowed during pregnancy

Pregnant women can take antibiotics from the following categories:

  • Penicillins: Penicillin, Ampicillin, Amoxicillin. Although they penetrate the placenta, their negative effect on the fetus has not been established. These funds are rapidly eliminated by the kidneys;
  • Cephalosporins: Cefuroxime, Cefazolin, Tsufeperazon, Cefepime appointed during the period of carrying the child without restrictions. Their negative impact on the developing child has not been identified;
  • macrolides: Erythromycin, Azithromycin, Spiramycin pass through the placenta in a low concentration. Do not lead to the development of pathologies in the child.

Despite the fact that all these funds are allowedduring pregnancy, it is better not to resort to them in the first trimester, during this period the main organs of the child are laid, and any drug effects should be excluded. But in the future, these drugs can be used only on the recommendation of a doctor and in a strictly specified dosage. Most antibacterial drugs that are permitted during the childbearing period are safe for fetal development. Doctors prescribe these funds to pregnant women to reduce the risks associated with diseases that can cause various pathologies in the development of the baby in the womb of the mother.
