Why there is an allergy to cereals

Sometimes an allergic reaction occurs not onthe porridge itself, but other products that were added to it: milk, sugar, honey or fruit additives. This protein is found in oatmeal, mango, wheat, barley and rye. Even adults often suffer from intolerance to gluten, in young children the likelihood of such an allergy is increased by 3-4 times. A child is at risk if one of the relatives suffers from food allergy. In such cases, new products are introduced very carefully. If the parents do not follow the rules of complementary feeding and immediately introduce a large amount of porridge into the diet, the body may react negatively to an unfamiliar product.

Symptoms of allergy to mush

Food allergy manifests itself as a disorderdigestive system, respiratory symptoms and skin rashes. The photo shows skin manifestations of an allergy to porridge. Signs of an allergic reaction in children:

  • stomach ache;
  • vomiting;
  • constant regurgitation;
  • diarrhea or constipation;
  • skin peeling;
  • single or multiple rashes in the form of a small rash;
  • red spots.

Abdominal discomfort, itching and skin irritationmake the child restless, whiny and capricious. In rare cases, respiratory symptoms also appear: sneezing, coughing, sore throat. If the baby has an allergy to cereals, they are removed from the menu for at least 2 weeks. During this time, on the recommendation of the doctor, the child is given enterosorbents and antihistamines. Antiallergic ointments are applied locally to the affected areas of the skin. The baby is constantly offered to drink clean water. After 14 days, complementary feeding with hypoallergenic cereals in small doses begins again, starting with 0.5 teaspoon. Buckwheat, rice and corn grits are considered hypoallergenic. Only testing can confirm the parents' assumptions. If the diagnosis is confirmed, the allergen is completely excluded from the baby's menu for several weeks or months.
