According to statistics, the number of children with disabilities inRussia over the past five years has grown by 9.2%. Almost 190,000 children aged 0 to 14 are registered with various mental and behavioral disorders, and another 440,000 receive counseling and treatment assistance. And behind these figures are hundreds of thousands of children and their families. State structures designed to help children with developmental disabilities and special needs can not change the most important thing - the attitude of society towards these children. Therefore, two years ago, the project "Social integration of children with autism" in Yaroslavl, whose main goal is to help children with autism and their families, was found in every child. Also, much work is being done with professional communities of doctors and educators. Lectures, seminars, master classes are held. Questions of early diagnosis, and suspected autism and begin work with the child can be already in 1,5 years, is designed to solve the project "Note: Autism." For parents was opened "School of Corrective Education", where they receive advice on all social issues and psychological help. In April of this year the action "A special child in public places" started. In parks and shopping centers a leaflet with information on how to behave to ordinary people in critical situations related to special children was distributed. After all, children with diagnoses of "autism", "mental retardation" or "syndrome of hyperactivity and attention deficit" do not externally differ from ordinary children. However, a visit to a shopping center or a circus, a trip on a bus or a taxi can be a real test for them. Be cognizant of the following situations: A child screams or cries. If you see that your mother is in control, then just be patient and do not pay attention to what is happening. Your intervention can aggravate the situation. The child screams, rolls on the floor and does damage to himself. I might need your help to calm the child. Perhaps she has a baby or shopping bags on her hands. Just come up and quietly offer your help. The child utters strange sounds and commits strange actions. This behavior is typical of children with autism, it helps them to concentrate and cope with their own anxiety.
