However, not all seafood is equally useful, some may contain dangerous substances - toxins of the PCBs group (polychlorinated biphenyls) and mercury, which negatively affect the body of an adult and can be transmitted to a baby through breast milk. The fact is that fish, living in dirty water, like a sponge, absorb various chemicals, and they end up in our stomach. Fortunately, not everything is so bad: choose safe fish and avoid the risk - quite easily. PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) toxins are recognized as endocrine disruptors that affect hormone levels and can even change gender (!). Thus, scientists from the University of Rotterdam conducted a study, as a result of which they found out that boys whose mothers were exposed to PCBs, preferred dolls to cars in childhood. PCBs toxins are now considered prohibited substances, however, they are still widely used in the food industry.
