Astilba

Phlox landing and carePhlox planting and care Last year I boughtTwo new hybrid astilbes - Heart and Soul (Heart and Soul) and Stand and Deliver. The plants are quite tall, about 80 cm, very beautiful, with fluffy delicate inflorescences and large green leaves with wavy serrated edges. Hut and Soul has large light green beautiful leaves - the decoration of the bush. Bright, eye-catching inflorescences soar against their background. Both astilbes feel very good in the sun. The first astilbe has inflorescences of a soft-soft pink color, with a lilac tint in the shining rays of the morning sun, the second has a more saturated color, bright pink.

Brunner

Nyvyanik landing and leavingChamomile planting and care Unpretentious perennialgrows well, does not require special care, decorative from the end of April (the appearance of leaves) until the first frosts, when the leaves die off. Young leaves appear throughout the summer, and this always gives the Brunnera bush a fresh and elegant look. New in 2008 - 2014 are the varieties Jack Frost, whose silver leaves are decorated with dark green veins, and Looking Glass - with shiny, uniformly silvery leaves. Their flowers, like those of ordinary Brunnera, are blue. Both varieties grow well in partial shade, and their spring flowering is simply a fairy tale, a blue glow over the precious shimmer of the leaves. Also this year, a new variety, Mr. Morse, should appear - with silvery leaves and snow-white forget-me-not flowers.

Buzulniki

shade-tolerant and moisture-loving.In the garden they develop better in partial shade, although with abundant and regular watering they feel good in the sun. Some varieties have bright yellow flowers, quite large baskets, raised to a height of up to 100 cm, while others have elongated candles. Flowers and leaves fold well into a beautiful and long-lasting autumn bouquet. The well-known varieties Desdemona, Othello, Sommer Gold and Orange Queen have been joined by the Britt Marie Crawford variety. It is perfection itself: a large bush with chocolate-purple leaves and bright orange daisies pleases from spring until autumn.

Basilists

Unpretentiousness, decorative flowers and foliagemake this large perennial irreplaceable for waterlogged areas, banks of reservoirs, shady gardens. To the well-known varieties of thalictrum with simple flowers of white, violet, lilac-pink and dark red flowers, a variety with double lavender flowers Hewitt's Double was added with long flowering in the second half of summer, in July-August, the plant is tall - up to 115 cm, the variety is winter-hardy, winters without shelter. Thalictrum looks great in a bouquet, gives it airiness and lightness.

Geiger

Recently, lovers of decorative foliageplants have become completely fascinated with heuchera. This beauty has quickly become a favorite of designers. Many hybrid heucheras have appeared with very decorative foliage of a wide variety of colors. Heucheras from the Parade of Planets series are especially good - silvery-green Venus, reddish-silver Mars, pinkish-greenish Neptune, greenish Mercury. But we are a little tired of the variegation of leaves, and, as if sensing this, the originators are offering a calmer, but contrasting combination of leaves this year: in the Tiramisu variety (Tiramisu) - an interesting contrast between the golden-yellow leaf and bright red spots along the veins.

Helenium

The main advantage of autumn helenium(Asteraceae family) - late and very abundant flowering. Looks very impressive both in group and single plantings. Hybrid helenium varieties have different heights, colors and different flowering periods. The earliest varieties bloom in July - this is the low-growing red-bronze Crimson Beauty and the hit of 2005 Chelsea: red-brown-yellow, it can please with flowering again in September. In 2006, the variety with double flowers Double Trouble appeared for the first time - bright yellow-lemon with a center of the same color, the color is so bright that it attracts the eye in the flowerbed, the bush is powerful, tall, grows quickly. Now it is slowly conquering space in our gardens, delighting with abundant flowering. And the current year is marked by the appearance of a unique variety, Autumn Lollipop, whose flower resembles a yellow-brown pompom with a rare collar of yellow petals.

Geranium

This plant has wonderful decorative properties.qualities: abundant flowering at first, cute fruits (crane noses) appear at the end of summer, and then the leaves turn all the colors of autumn. It reproduces well, grows both in partial shade and in the sun, varieties bloom at different times, which allows you to select plants so that flowering continues almost all summer. Geraniums have juicy foliage, so the bushes do not lose their attractiveness even after flowering. There are a huge number of geranium varieties, but with double flowers - only a few, these are Plenum and Summer Skies with lilac-blue flowers. This year we are promised a new compact meadow geranium with double white flowers and purple rays in the center - the variety is called Double Jewel (Double Treasure). I hope that this variety will be a real treasure in my collection. Among the hybrid geraniums with simple flowers - there is a great variety. There are tall geraniums - Sandrine, shorter - Blue Sunrise and Crystal Lake and very small ones - for example Elke, only 25 cm high. Sandrine has large dark purple flowers with a black center, and the leaves are light - yellow-green and contrast with the dark petals. Blue Sunrise has very beautiful leaves, young leaves are orange, later they become yellow and only then green, the flowers are quite ordinary - blue, and the Crystal Lake variety is very winter-resistant, flowering is long - from July until frost, the flowers are very beautiful - blue with dark veins, a wonderful play of contrasts. The compact rounded bush Elke is simply charming - dark pink flowers with red veins, a light center and light tips on the edges of the petals. Patricia is very attractive - a bright, long-flowering geranium. The color of the petals is interesting, they are red-crimson with chestnut veins and the same dark center, and the leaves have a relief pattern.

Bathers

They bloom in the first half of summer, when flowersnot so many yet. That is why their warm, joyful flowers of golden shades are so attractive. The shape of the flowers is from spherical to semi-open and open. Modern varieties of globeflowers are hybrids of European, Asian, Altai and large-petal globeflowers. They are united under the name "cultural globeflower". We know orange, yellow, simple and double globeflowers. And now we are offered a light cream-lemon with semi-double semi-open flowers. This beauty is called Cheddar.

Daylilies

The daylily boom that has hit Americagradually reached us. This is explained primarily by the unpretentiousness of daylilies, the incredible variety of colors and shapes of flowers. Daylilies are little susceptible to diseases and pests, grow back early in the spring, abundant foliage is decorative until the frosts. Among the new products of the 2008 selection, there are many large-flowered double varieties worthy of admiration. But the largest and brightest among them is Mosers Fire with bright red double velvet flowers.

Lilies

Quite recently we have received genuinemasterpieces of selection - OT hybrids, or Orienpeta. These lilies differ from others in that they have huge (up to 25 cm) flowers of a variety of very bright colors. The aroma is pleasant: when they bloom, the whole garden is fragrant. OT hybrids have not yet received mass distribution, but their prospects are undeniable: they bloom much longer than other lilies, gradually opening one flower after another. The stems are so strong that I sometimes tie phloxes to them. With proper care, up to 10 or more flowers can bloom on one stem. Agricultural technology is normal; they overwinter well, you just need to cover them from the rain in advance in the fall.

Cleaning

Its clumps with fleshy thick leaves are very good.leaves and pink flowers, not very bright, but quite attractive. Somehow, imperceptibly and gradually, new hybrid varieties began to appear; of course, they cannot be compared with the quantity and quality of geyheras and echinacea, but nevertheless… Among the new products is Star Dust (Star Dust) with bright white flowers, which greatly decorate the garden in autumn. It is followed by varieties with dark, almost black leaves - Lynda Windsor, Bon Bon, sedums with variegated leaves and white-pink flowers are spectacular in their own way - Pink Chablis, Lajos. The brightest red flowers are in the low sedum Red Cauli. Chamomile (Leucanthemum)

Nivianik

Due to its decorativeness and diversityvarieties modest chamomile is becoming increasingly popular among flower growers. The most popular is the largest daisy and its varieties. The height of the plants varies, most varieties are 60-70 cm, the diameter of the flower is up to 15 cm, it blooms from the first days of July. Only two colors - white and yellow, and what bright varieties have appeared recently: semi-double and double petals, with curls and elongated, with rounded and torn edges, high and low! In 2008, the double varieties were replenished - Fiona Coghill with a large double pompom and a light yellow-green center, Sante - double with a bright yellow center. There are varieties with petals in several tiers - Aglaia and Goldrausch. Goldrausch has bushes only 35 cm high, the flower is original: around the yellow center the first row of petals is yellow, and the second and third are white with cut petals.

Peonies

Several years ago, among the peonies appearedNew products - intersectional hybrids called "AB Ito hybrids". They were bred by the Japanese breeder Professor Toichi Ito, who crossed tree peonies and lactiflora peonies. He obtained plants with the foliage of tree peonies, and the properties of "herbaceous". Flowering time and agricultural technology - as in herbaceous peonies. This year you can buy the following varieties: Bartzella - bright yellow double with red blotches in the center, Julia Rose - white and pink with a dark red center, Copper Kettle - orange-red, Sequestered Sunshine - yellow-lemon with a red coating in the center. The new varieties bloom at the same time as the herbaceous peony varieties, the stems are cut for the winter, like the herbaceous ones, which distinguishes them from their tree-like parents.

Bastard

Its Latin name is —«Eupatorium». It comes from the name of the Pontic king Mithridates Eupator, who allegedly used this plant as an antidote. Whether this is a legend or a fact, no one knows, but the fact that the Eupatorium is royally beautiful is beyond doubt. It is especially attractive in the second half of summer and in autumn, when its lush light purple inflorescences appear. The flowers stand up well in water. It is a pity that it is not very well known in our gardens. Purple Eupatorium is widespread - a majestic plant from one and a half to two meters high with fluffy purple inflorescences on very strong stems growing without supports. The Atropurpureum variety with very dark stems is more often found on sale than others. A very effective variety is Chocolate with dark bronze-purple, almost black lanceolate leaves and creamy white flowers. For small gardens, foreign companies offer on the market a new compact variety, Plantom, with wine-red flowers only 80 cm high.

Phloxes

This year they promise several new products:bright pink with a darker eye Cosmopolitan, dark purple Papel Keys, bright pink with a light eye Watermelon Punch, pure white Pina Colada, white and pink with a bright beautiful star in the center Swizzly. Nothing outstanding, we already have many similar varieties, I would highlight only Swizzly.

Echinacea

Echinacea purpurea is getting more and more colorful every year.more and more bizarre attire. In the near future we will be pleased with new terry varieties. These are Pink Double Delight with pink and Coconut Lime with white flowers. Echinacea with bright yellow petals are already known, these are Harvest Moon and Sunrise. An even brighter, intensely orange color is in the new variety Sundown with non-drooping petals on strong stems. Judging by the descriptions, it should be an interesting echinacea, I hope that it is no worse than my favorite variety Fatal Etraction. In 2008, we are promised the first green echinacea Green Envy.

Hydrangeas

Breeders have made another revolution. At present, new varieties of large-leaved hydrangea, or garden hydrangea, have appeared. These are the most beautiful hydrangeas, changing the color of their inflorescences depending on the acidity of the soil, but in our country, due to the harsh winters, they required the same shelter as roses, since they bloomed on last year's shoots. And the new varieties bloom on this year's shoots and therefore do not require such careful shelter as before. Let's see how they behave, taking into account our winters.
