Fixtures for the gardenV youth Alexander Grivkowas going to become an economist, but changed his mind - he left the institute and went to Paris to study landscape design. The last 8 years is the art director of the company Il Nature (t. 797 4740). The gardens designed by him were repeatedly published in ELLE DECOR. At our request, Alexander commented on the various options for garden lighting. Variants for highlighting tracks, terraces and facades are determined at the stage of development of the landscape project. But the places for the lamps, through which trees and shrubs will be highlighted, have to be looked for "live" - by trial and error. There are two main options: external illumination (lamps are attached to neighboring trees) and internal (lamps are hidden among plants). The first technique helps to emphasize the shape of green plantations, the second one draws attention to the texture of the crown. If you need to get a powerful stream of light(for example, for lighting large objects), it is best to use metal halide lamps. They well emphasize foliage color and have a temperature that is ideal for plants. The only problem is that the abundance of metal halide lamps can overload the power grid. We have to compromise - use less powerful halogen, fluorescent or traditional incandescent lamps. Virtually any garden light can give not only the usual "white" light, but also color. It is useful for creating special effects in the winter garden, but in the summer you should use color illumination with caution, otherwise the landscape will look unnatural. The main enemy of garden illumination in Russia is snow. Because of him, many receptions, popular in Europe, we work only in the summer. For example, in winter it is almost impossible to use lamps built into the ground. Constantly clearing fixtures, it is possible to do harm to the growing plants nearby (after all a snow cover protects roots of trees from freezing). It is important that the lighting specialist works in close contact with the landscape designer - then there will be enough light in the garden and the trees will be intact.Read more: How to do it
