Донателла Версаче находится в постоянном движении. У нее множество квартир и домов по всему миру, но ни в одном из них она не живет подолгу. Чаще всего ее можно застать в роскошных двухуровневых апартаментах в центре Милана. Кстати, второй уровень появился здесь не так давно… В 1986 году Донателла и ее тогдашний муж Пол Бек приобрели небольшую квартиру в старом доме, увитом плющом. Оформление интерьера они поручили известному декоратору Ренцо Монжардино. Он справился с задачей так успешно, что за двадцать лет у хозяев ни разу не возникло желания изменить убранство дома. Да и зачем? К примеру, столовая, украшенная бело-голубыми изразцами и фресками с изображением китайских и японских ваз, не будет выглядеть «морально устаревшей» и через сорок лет!Но время идет, дети взрослеют (дочери Аллегре уже 20, сыну Даниэлю — 16), и Донателла решила, что жилище стало тесновато. Поэтому она приобрела квартиру, расположенную этажом выше и объединила ее со своей. Выбирая, кому поручить отделку новообретенной жилплощади, Донателла действовала по принципу «от добра добра не ищут». Она вновь доверила ремонт студии Монжардино. Декораторы охотно включились в игру и в деталях воспроизвели свой стиль двадцатилетней давности. На втором этаже появились щедро украшенные лепниной сводчатые потолки и напольная плитка с геометрическим узором — «фирменный» штрих студии Монжардино. Интерьер получился на удивление цельным: даже не верится, что первый и второй этажи разделяет промежуток в два десятилетия! И все же, если присмотреться, разница между ними есть…

Double life Donatella's first floor was given inthe disposal of children and numerous guests. It is here that there are mind-blowing parties, of which tabloids are then enthusiastically reporting. The second floor is her personal refuge. In planning it, the resolute mistress was guided by a single principle: "I so want!". And she did not accept any objections. So there was, for example, a bathroom the size of a football field. "I always demanded more, more, more," recalls Donatella. - They told me: "But it's so huge!", And I screamed: "No! This is not enough!". Even when the bathroom interior was finished, and the decorators switched to other rooms, the restless customer could not calm down. She ordered to break the newly erected wall, to enlarge the room by another three meters and to make one of the mirror walls - that the bathroom seemed even bigger. "Only after that I was satisfied!" - laughs Donatella. With the same inflexibility she acted, choosing pictures for her apartments. Unlike the ground floor, where the canvases of old masters hang on the walls, the second one is decorated with paintings by Giorgio de Chirico and Fernand Leger. "I love modern art and classical furniture! And what's wrong with that? Eclecticism does not frighten me! "Masterpieces peacefully coexist with leopard skins, Empire-style tables and sofas, covered with blue velvet with branded Versace prints. In such extravagant surroundings, Donatella feels absolutely comfortable. Here she rests and takes close friends. And when she wants to socialize, she just goes down. Philosophy in the Boudoir Everyone knows that balancing on the fine line between luxury and kitsch, Donatella knows how, no one else, but is this approach suitable for the rest of humanity? She is sure that yes. "People for some reason limit themselves to the same style, they want every thing in their house to be combined with all the others. But it's so old-fashioned, even if the things themselves are the last word of design! I know a lot of ultramodern houses in which terribly old-fashioned people live, "Donatella says. "They are simply afraid to be free, and freedom is the most valuable thing in life!" Who would have thought that the pillows embroidered with gold from Versace were stuffed with such deep philosophical content?
