Woman's Day brought together 13 Western stars who conquered the child's imagination with fairy tales of her own composition. We tell about all in order!
Julianne Moore
Freckleface Strawberry– this is how classmates teased the then unknown actress Julianne Moore in her childhood. Nature gifted little Julie with red hair and freckles on her face, so jokes about the actress’s sun “affliction” became popular with bullies. But Moore turned her fiery beauty into her calling card. The childhood nickname inspired the actress to write the book “Freckleface Strawberry” for her little fans. On the pages of the fairy tale, a seven-year-old girl learns to accept her extraordinary appearance. Julianne described the book as follows: “It’s about a girl who is different from her peers and is forced to prove that she is no worse than them. Actually, I admire another red-haired and freckled heroine – Pippi Longstocking. But she is just that – a heroine. And I wrote a book about an ordinary girl who does not have Pippi’s superpowers. I was writing a book on psychology for children, if you like." Later, the book had two more parts with the same main character: "Freckleface Strawberry: Best Friends Forever" and "Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully." In addition to these books, Julia released another children's book called "My Mom Is a Foreigner, But Not to Me." She dedicated it to her mother, who always spoke with a Scottish accent. "I wrote about my experience of living next to a wonderful person. Who was different from everyone else in some way. The book is called "My Mom Is a Foreigner, But Not to Me." Mom really was a foreigner - she spoke with a Scottish accent her whole life, although she came to the States at the age of 12, - Moore said about the book. — Of course, the book is in memory of my mother, but for me it means more: it is addressed to children whose mothers are foreigners and they feel uncomfortable about it. And you know, this idea was… Imagine: out of two dozen illustrators, without meeting them, I chose one artist based on her drawings. I didn’t even know her name. But it turned out that she was from Hong Kong, but she lives on the island of Yell – that’s Scotland! Can you imagine? She lives in Scotland, my mother’s homeland, and she herself is a foreign mother!”
