Is there anesthesia for pregnant women?

There are 3 types of anesthesia:

  • Local, when temporarily anesthetized somesite by introducing an anesthetic. It is considered the most safe for a pregnant woman and fetus. It is most often used in the treatment of teeth and dissection of abscesses. For such anesthesia, pregnant women use Ultracaine, Lidocaine, Ubistesin. These drugs do not penetrate the placenta badly, so they are unable to harm the baby, although they can cause allergic manifestations in the future mother.
  • Regional. It is done when it is impossible to apply local anesthesia. With this method of anesthesia, the sensitivity of a certain part of the body "turns off," the drug is injected around the nerves. For this anesthetic, the same remedies are used as for the local one.
  • The total. This kind of anesthesia implies the disconnection of the consciousness of the pregnant woman by inhalation or intravenous route. For inhalation anesthesia pregnant pregnant women are more often used Fluorotane, Halothane, Izoblyuran. But these funds can lead to a violation of blood flow in the placenta and uterus. General anesthesia for pregnant women is done with drugs Kalilsol, Fentanyl, Listenon.
  • All drugs for anesthesia are prescribedindividually, taking into account the woman's age, health condition and pregnancy period. Despite the fact that there are anesthetics approved for use during pregnancy, if possible, surgical operations in pregnant women should be postponed until later in order to avoid side effects and negative impact on the fetus.
