How is the reading technique evaluated and on what texts?
Reading technique is a set of several characteristics by which one can evaluate the ability to read. In the 1st grade, it is checked at least twice a year.To make it easier to pass the reading technique test in the 1st grade of the 1st quarter, the student needs to follow the words with his finger. - Awareness. Check this skill so: after reading the text material the teacher asks questions. According to the student's answers, he can see if he understood what he read, or not. The first-graders have a small vocabulary, so the text materials for them are hard to select.
- Speed. This skill means how many words a child has read in 1 minute.
- Way of reading. For students in grade 1 of the quarter, this parameter is rarely taken into account, as children are only just learning the letters and sounds. More often they can only read by syllables.
- Right. It is estimated how many mistakes the student made.
- Expressiveness. This parameter includes the use of pauses, the correct setting of stresses, the selection of the desired intonation.
Artistic or artistic works are suitable for testing.popular science texts. They should be unfamiliar to the child, but understandable, and consist of short sentences. It is undesirable for the text material to contain punctuation marks other than periods and commas. It should fit on one page, and should not contain pictures, diagrams, or dialogues. It is better to test reading technique in the form of a game. If the child gets overexcited, he will not be able to read the text material and answer the teacher's questions.
Verification standard according to the Federal State Educational Standard
The future education of a first-grader depends on how well he reads and assimilates the material he reads. The standards for a first-grader are as follows:
- the child understands what he is reading;
- the first-grader pronounces words in syllables or entirely, pronounces correctly and clearly;
- reading speed - 25-30 words/min.
Basic requirements for a 1st grade student -he must read quickly and understand the material read. If in 1 minute he manages to read more than 20 words, then he deserves the grade "excellent", 16-20 - "good", 10-15 - "satisfactory", less than 10 - "unsatisfactory". The assessment of reading technique in the 1st grade of the 1st quarter is symbolic. Children are just learning to read during this period. The results of the training will be noticeable only by the end of the 3rd quarter.
