Other differences

Clothing is not the only thing that distinguishes these two New Year characters. External differences:

  • Satellites. Santa goes to the children alone, but it is worked by elves and gnomes. The frost itself creates gifts, but on a visit to the kids comes to the company Snow Maiden.
  • Means of transport. The grandfather walks on foot, but sometimes appears on a sleigh harnessed by a troika of horses. The western character moves on a cart, which pulls 12 deer.
  • Beard. Our grandfather has a beard with a length to the waist. The second New Year's hero wears a rather short beard.
  • Attributes. Frost holds in his hands a magic crystal staff, with which he freezes everything around. Santa does not have anything in his hands. But in front of him goggles gleam, and in his mouth a pipe smokes. Although this attribute is not currently used because of the anti-tobacco company.
  • Place of residence. Our Frost comes from Veliky Ustyug - a city in the Vologda region. Santa comes to children from Lapland.
  • Height. In fairy tales, Frost has a heroic physique. He is slender and strong. The second grandfather is a short and rather plump old man.
  • Manners of behavior. The Slavic grandfather comes to the children and gives them presents for the told poems or sung songs. Santa also makes his way through the chimney at night, and leaves the toys under the fir tree or hides them in socks tied to the fireplace.

Despite their differences, Santa and Father Frost have a lot in common. They both appear during the winter holidays and give gifts to good boys and girls.
