Robin and Joell Schneider will forever remember thisChristmas. After all, on this day the whole family was finally able to get together. Their daughter Eliora was to be born in early November. However, something went wrong, childbirth began prematurely. Ellie, as her parents affectionately called, was born at the end of June, four months before the due date. Doctors were astonished to say that it is not larger than a soda can and looks like a tiny chick. "I did not think that a person could be so tiny," recalls Robin. - To be honest, I was scared to look at her. Her skin looked like parchment paper, her arms and legs were small and bony. When I saw her for the first time, I could only cry. Joell tried to be strong, but I know how hard he was. "Photo: facebook.com / preemiewarriorprincess / Neither the doctors nor the parents knew if the baby could survive. Her lungs did not have time to form, and the baby had to be connected to the life support device. Any careless touch could cause her a terrible trauma - in fact, comparing the skin of Ellie with the parchment, my mother did not exaggerate. However, the girl was not going to give up. Everyone was amazed at how persistently the baby was fighting for her life.1/3Photo: facebook.com/preemiewarriorprincess/Photo: facebook.com/preemiewarriorprincess/Photo: facebook.com/preemiewarriorprincess/The following months were full of ups and downs. Robin and Joelle almost lost their daughter twice. At first, Ellie spent time in an incubator; her parents couldn’t even hold her. They were only able to touch the baby five weeks after her birth. And the Schneiders’ eldest son, Elijah, was allowed to hold his sister only when she was five months old. That is, if the pregnancy had gone well, the girl would have been a month old. “It was a very important and pleasant moment for us. There is something special about seeing your two children together,” Robin shares her experiences. Now the situation is no longer critical. Eliora still needs additional oxygen, which is given to her by machines, but every day it is becoming easier for her to breathe on her own. The baby is eating well, gaining weight rapidly and quickly growing out of her clothes. The older brother has become a real protector of his little sister: he sits next to the girl all the time, reads books to her and sings songs. Thanks to such a reverent attitude and love, Ellie’s condition has improved so much that the family was allowed to take the baby home. “We know how lucky we are to have her. We are glad that our girl is such a strong personality, that she tried so hard to be with us. It has been a rollercoaster ride, and most likely, it will continue. But thanks to our faith, we feel that this is the only way for our Ellie, our beautiful Christmas miracle. We are so happy that we are finally together,” the parents say.
