Without even thinking about how she would look from the outside, what the child’s mother would think of her, she ran up to the stroller and tore off the raincoat. “I take a stranger’s child out of a stranger’s stroller. He is blue and like a rag, he has funny ducks in hats with a pompom on his jacket. I say something to the mother, and she calls 911. I do CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation, artificial respiration and indirect heart massage. – Ed. WDay). The child is so soft that I am very afraid to break him. The mother is constantly telling me something, but I do not hear. The child opens his eyes. Brown. And he is no longer blue, and he begins to cry. I do not know how much time has passed.” According to Tatyana Babenko, she does not remember her mother’s face at all. And in general, everything around was perceived in fragments. The main thing was to save the baby. Then the ambulance arrived, the mother and child got into it. The stroller was left on the alley in the park. And it became clear what had happened to the baby. “The rain cover for it is a solid polyethylene one, it is put on from above, there is no ventilation in it. Only blowing from below, apparently, is supposed to. And I think that, probably, he just almost suffocated in his sleep, somehow there his mother tucked this thing so that air did not get in. Because if he stopped breathing because something serious happened, I would have no way of rocking him, I think,” the rescuer continues. Finally, Tatyana practically begs: “Please, always think about the risk of suffocating like this. If you walk in the rain, make sure that air gets under the polyethylene to the child. If there is snow and your stroller cover is mesh - so that it does not become crusty from the baby's breath. If you go to sleep in a tent under a snowfall - please leave someone on duty.
