The fact that natural childbirth is not a processpleasant, of course, I suspected. But now, that they can end with sutures on the perineum, I found out already when I was pregnant. The terrible word "episiotomy" first sounded on courses for future mums. The obstetrician-gynecologist explained: if during a tentative the doctor sees that the baby's head is too big for the birth canal, he suggests making a perineal incision. Keyword: offers. Episiotomy doctor should do only with the consent of a woman. So, if you do not want to be cut, tell about it. Another thing is that doctors are convincing. In paints will paint about the terrible gaps of the perineum, which can happen, if not to make an episiotomy. They may or may not, but doctors often cut it just to make sure. And their argument is this: the incisions heal better than the rips, and the seams due to the even edges of the wound are much more accurate.A photo: Getty Images Variable - young ladies are impressionable. Hearing at the lecture about the seams, everyone thought about the appearance of their "flower" (yes, and among future mothers there are those who blush to call organs by their own names). Say, sex is under threat and how in general then to her husband to appear. - Do not want tears, do perineal massage, - the gynecologist advised on the courses. - It is better to start from the 34th week of pregnancy. Massage with butter for 5-10 minutes. Fabrics will become softer and more elastic. All these tips I wrote down in detail in a notebook and ... I immediately forgot. It seems that she placed too high hopes on her crotch. Like, let's go home, we can manage without massage. And when the moment of "X" came, the doctor announced: we must cut. "Quite a bit," assured the gynecologist. And you know, during the birth, the last thing I thought about, it's about how my crotch will look with stitches. With the process of procreation I wanted to finish quickly, and if an episiotomy helps in this, go ahead, dock! I agree! They cut without anesthesia, but I did not feel the pain. Rather, I felt, but not from the incisions, but from the fact that inside me there was a man who was making his way out. Then they explained to me, during a tug, the muscles in that area are so stretched that blood flow stops in them, and pain is not felt. But they sewed up already with anesthesia - the days when women "darned" the money went. The doctor made a couple of injections with an anesthetic - a mere trifle against the background that a couple of minutes ago a man came out of me. By the way, this man - my tiny son - was lying on my chest at that moment, but because it was going on below my belt, to me already it was not interesting. They reminded me of the sutures in the postpartum ward when the nurse handed me a bottle of frozen water. "Hold it between your legs," she said. - After the toilet, wash yourself and do not even try to sit. But for a long time I could not keep an ice bottle between my legs - I fell asleep after a hard night of work. The next day I ventured to touch the seam with my hand, and it was really scary. Everything was swollen and some hummocky. I was afraid to look in the mirror. Dared only on the third day and almost burst into tears. It was some mess ...Photo:Getty ImagesThe stitches didn't hurt at all, but they made themselves known when I stood up or lay down. I had to hunch over, leaning on my outer thigh to lie down on the bed. It seemed that even mothers felt more cheerful after a C-section. I rode home from the maternity hospital in the back seat, half-lying down. It hurt for another week or two. A month and a half later, the wound had healed, the stitches had dissolved, and, of course, everything looked much more aesthetically pleasing than in the first days after giving birth. But the appearance still left much to be desired. It seemed that they had made too big an incision, forgetting to stitch it up properly, and now it was as if all the organs were outside. “They stitched you up properly. Give your body time to recover,” the gynecologist reassured me at the appointment when I started talking about intimate plastic surgery. The doctor didn't lie. Time passed, and everything became as before. It's not like I have a "before" and "after" photo, so take my word for it. And by the way, for those who are worried, the scar from the incision will disappear without a trace. By the way, Episiotomy is done not only to avoid ruptures. There are other indications for the operation, such as premature birth, breech presentation and fetal hypoxia.
