Sven Nordkvist. "Four secrets of Findus", publishing house "Albus Corvus / White Crow"
Since I follow children's literature,Of course, I've heard of Findus and Petson. But all the books I knew from this series, unfortunately, weren't suitable for us, they were designed for older children. And then I learned about "The Four Secrets of Findus". This book was created especially for the youngest readers, who need to grab everything, leaf through it and study it as actively as possible. It is a convenient small format with thick cardboard glossy pages. Little fingers will easily turn the pages, but they won't be able to tear them. Together with the funny old man Petson, we solve riddles that his charming cat Findus has asked us. Together we will visit the chicken coop and cause a stir among its inhabitants, look into the workshop, full of unusual tools, wander among the beds in the garden. The illustrations are so colorful, interesting, leaving room for imagination. On each page, in addition to the main characters, tiny fairy-tale creatures live in small houses, and they are so interesting to look at. There are so many details that you can find something new every time. The book is suitable for the smallest six-month-old readers, but I am sure it will also be interesting for 2-3-year-old children. When my daughter grows up, we will definitely buy her the rest of the books from this series and continue to introduce her to the characters she has already come to love.
Vladimir Suteev. "Tales and Pictures", publishing the "Kid"
Vladimir Suteev is widely knowncartoonist, writer and artist. Even if you haven't heard his name, you probably read his fairy tales or watched his cartoons as a child, such as "A Bag of Apples", "The Snowman-Mailman", "Raznye Kolyova". Our library already had more than one book with his illustrations. And finally, his own fairy tales with his pictures, of course, appeared. When you open the book, the stories literally come to life. Together with the characters, we learn to be generous, because the hare, the hedgehog, the crow and the bear were able to share an apple. We learn to be kinder and help even when it seems impossible, like in the fairy tale "Under the Mushroom". Add to this Suteev's signature illustrations, very realistic and kind at the same time. It's amazing to read a book with a child and remember the cartoons that you watched as a child, and recognize long-familiar characters. I was very pleased with the publication: a beautiful book in a hard cover with coated pages, excellent print quality. This copy is a real gem for any children's library.
Yu and Thomas Wislander. Mama Mu Reads, illustrator Sven Nordkvist, Albus Corvus / White Crow Publishers
A great book for little ones who are alreadyunderstand animals. We bought it when our one-year-old daughter began to distinguish birds and depict a cow. Although in fact the book is designed for older readers, 2.5-3 years old. There is a whole series about a cute cow named Mama Mu and a grumpy raven Krax. I chose the issue about reading, because my main goal now is to instill a love of literature in my child. And this book is perfect for this task. Mama Mu is an unusual cow, she decided to learn to read and achieved her goal. But the naughty Krax cannot understand why she needs this and why she cannot behave like all the other ruminant relatives. The main characters are very different, but they are united by curiosity and books: Mama Mu loves to read, and Krax wants to write a book and win the Nobel Prize. Together they try to solve a mystery, the answer to which they could not find in books: why do cows eat green grass, and milk is white? The book consists of dialogues between a raven and a cow, which can be read so funny in roles, changing voice and intonation. Funny full-page illustrations perfectly complement the text. The pictures are so emotional, funny, it is easy to read the characters of the main characters from them. I think that after reading, your baby will want to know even more and will ask new questions, to which you will try to find answers together.
Agniya Barto. “About the little ones”, publishing house “Malysh”
Poems familiar to everyone from an early age.I listened to them with pleasure as a child, and now I read them to my daughter with no less enthusiasm. This book is for little ones and about little ones. About little ones who, like your child, are discovering this world for themselves. And your little one can grow and rejoice together with the book's heroes. Draw a vegetable garden with currants growing together with Mashenka, admire herself in the mirror like a princess, visit her nursery, which is more like a fairy-tale land. Raise little brother Andryusha with two sisters, save him from mosquitoes, help him bathe in the bathtub and protect him from thunderstorms. Kind poems that are easy to read and remember, and equally kind illustrations that perfectly complement the text. All the pictures are filled with incredible light, all the colors of childhood. I can recommend this book for little readers from one year old, as the poems are very easy to perceive. But there is a lot of text here, it is interesting, instructive and filled with many events and heroes. Therefore, it is worth rereading it at three and five years old.
Olof and Lena Landstrom. “Be and Me. Cleaning ”, publishing house“ Albus Corvus / White Crow ”
A book for the youngest readers, from 6months. Each page has a minimal amount of text, literally one line at a time. I think it won't be that interesting for three-year-olds. But it's just right for a toddler. The book itself is square and small. You can take it with you on the road or to the clinic and distract your child with reading. The main characters are Be the lamb and Me the sheep. The plot is very simple, close to our everyday life. Be and Me started cleaning the house, and the insidious vacuum cleaner grabbed and swallowed a sock: "Flyups!" After saving such an important wardrobe item and finishing the cleaning, our heroes themselves needed to take a bath. And when so many important things have been done, it's especially nice to sit down together and drink a glass of milk with cookies! After reading the book, your toddler can take a new look at routine household chores. And children who are afraid of the vacuum cleaner will understand that it is not so scary, it can be defeated. The pictures are as simple as the story itself, without many details and bright colors. There is no madness of colors and artistic masterpieces here. Just a cute sheep and lamb who invited us to look at their ordinary day. If your child likes the charming Be and Me, you can get to know them better in the book "Be and Me. Picnic". Take a basket with tasty supplies, sit in a boat with the characters and go on a real picnic on the lake, which is especially pleasant on a hot summer day.
