Choice of dishes
Give up plastic dishes and cutlery. Your baby deserves a beautiful ceramic plate and cutlery made of high-quality steel. The main thing is safety!
Fork
There should be no sharp edges that coulddamage the baby's delicate skin. The tines of a baby fork are usually short and rounded at the base. It is necessary to explain to the child: if the dish we are eating requires only a fork (minced meat, vareniki, pelmeni, cabbage rolls, cheesecakes, pasta), we take the utensil in the right hand. Everything that can be pierced with a fork (pieces of meat, vegetables, French fries, etc.) we bring to the mouth with the tines down. If the side dish is mashed potatoes, rice, buckwheat, then it will be more convenient to put it on and bring it to the mouth with the tines up.
Knife
It should be without sharp edges (even the working one)the handle should be as strong as possible, the tip of the knife should be rounded. Explain to your child that a knife is needed when a fork cannot cut food (steak, chicken cutlet), in this case we hold the knife in the right hand, the fork in the left. Explain that you should not cut all the food on the plate at once, otherwise it will cool down quickly. You should cut off the next piece only after the previous one has been swallowed. Watch the position of the child's hands on the utensils, the index fingers should not go on the blade of the knife or the base of the fork.
After a meal
After finishing your meal, learn to put it awayutensils correctly. The knife and fork are parallel to each other, if you imagine a plate as a clock face, then the handles of the utensils should "look at five o'clock".
