Causes of nausea in a child

  • food poisoning;
  • respiratory and intestinal infectious diseases - rotavirus, dysentery, salmonellosis, influenza and others;

  • meningitis, encephalitis;
  • acute gastritis.

Nausea can occur if a foreign object has got into the child's stomach - a toy, cloth, paper and more.

If you cannot do it yourself or nausea is accompanied by additional symptoms, consult a doctor immediately. How to alleviate the child’s condition and what to do before the doctor arrives:

  • provide the child with bed rest, make sure that he is lying on his side, otherwise vomiting can get into the respiratory tract;
  • every 5 minutes give him 1 tsp. water, it will help avoid dehydration;
  • with severe vomiting, water it with a solution of 8 tbsp. l sugar, 1 tbsp. l salt and 0.5 tsp. soda in 1 liter of water;
  • offer a child a pear decoction or mint tea, these drinks relieve nausea;
  • in food poisoning, give it a sorbent-type activated carbon;
  • if the discomfort is due to stress, water the baby with a decoction of chamomile, mint or lemon balm.

However, do not give your child too much drinking,otherwise, it may re-induce vomiting. For whatever reason, the child is not nauseous, it is still advisable to inform the doctor about nausea during a routine examination.
