April Fool's DayApril Fool's DayPhoto: Shutterstock In the world there are several opinions about where the tradition of celebrating April 1 came from. According to one of them, it is believed that originally April 1 was celebrated in many countries as the day of the spring solstice. Such holidays in all nations were celebrated cheerfully and joyfully. According to another version, April 1 is a kind of “Old New Year”. Before in the XVI century, Charles IX reformed the calendar from Victorian to Gregorian in France, the New Year was celebrated not on January 1, but at the end of March. Despite the changes in the calendar, some conservative-minded people continued to celebrate New Year's Eve in the old style. Others laughed and made fun of them, presented funny gifts and called them April fools. The first April Fools mass rally was held in Moscow in 1703. The heralds walked the streets and invited everyone to come to an "unheard of performance." From the audience there was no end. And when at the appointed hour the curtain opened, everyone saw on the stage a cloth with the inscription: “First April - don't trust anybody!” Today, April 1 is still celebrated with funny jokes and jokes over friends and colleagues. The children tell each other about the white back, the students change the clock one hour earlier, and the adults bring each other to a heart attack with a story about a car evacuated from the curb. In any case, a joke that was not laughed at by someone who was joking is considered unsuitable for April Fool's Day.
