Sapozhok for gifts
If you prefer to support the New Yearlegend, discreetly leaving gifts in various corners of the house, then a Christmas boot (also known as Santa Claus's sock or Father Frost's felt boot) will be just right for such a surprise. Stock up on such footwear in advance for each family member or guest. And hang them all over the apartment before the holiday. By the way, a Christmas boot is an excellent tool for raising children. Tell your children an old legend: "On Christmas Day, Santa Claus goes from house to house and discreetly puts gifts in boots. For obedient children - sweets. And for hooligans - lumps of coal." You will see, they will behave like silk.Photo: Getty
Potpourri
In traditional Christmas potpourriuse "winter", warming spices - cinnamon sticks, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, cocoa, citrus fruits (whole or dried slices). All these aromatic ingredients are placed in a glass vase (or on a plate) and the composition is placed on the dining table, in the living room, in the kitchen or in the bathroom. To maintain the aroma, you can periodically spray the potpourri with some suitable aromatic oil (for example, orange). Just do this carefully, because some elements of the composition (for example, tangerines) can darken from drops of oil. It is better to keep lit candles away.Photo: Getty
Candles
There is no such thing as too much festive illumination!Take out all the candlesticks you can find in the house: the more colored glass, the more spectacular the lighting will be. Any container will do - saucers, cups, glasses, decorative jam jars. Place candles throughout the apartment. The obligatory points are the festive table and windowsills. If desired, you can make candles yourself by pouring paraffin melted in a water bath into the peel of a whole orange (such a candle will be very fragrant) or a sea shell. Place floating candles in transparent low vases or glasses filled with water with bright pebbles and shells at the bottom. Instead of water, you can use colorful beans, pebbles brought from the south, or sand.Photo: Getty
Pomander
Pomanders are aromatic balls madefrom oranges and cloves. Making them on New Year's Eve can become a family tradition, because even a child can stick fragrant cloves into an orange. Tie the oranges with beautiful ribbons made of velvet, satin, silk or organza. Then fill the free surface with cloves, sticking their sharp ends into the peel. Don't forget to constantly blot the leaking juice with a napkin so as not to stain the ribbons. You can stick the cloves evenly into each section, or you can lay out some intricate pattern.Photo:GettyReady pomanders can be hung on the tree, used as room decor, or added to a Christmas potpourri. They can also be given to guests. They last a very long time. Over time, as the oranges dry out, they shrink in size, giving off a wonderful aroma. Dried pomanders can be placed in an airtight container filled with winter spices for a few weeks to replenish their wonderful aroma, and then used in an aromatic composition for the bathroom or kitchen.
