Menton's lemons are considered the best: thanks to the fertile soil and careful care, the crops are harvested here all year round. The richest harvest is collected in March-April, and the festival itself has become a symbol of the beginning of the most fruitful season. The whole period of the festival in the city reigns real "citrus madness". Hundreds of tons of lemons and oranges are used to create grand compositions, installations and sculptures. A festive procession is taking place in the city, led by the smallest inhabitants of Menton: dressed in colorful costumes, they present thematic scenes from the life of the country. Gigantic platforms laden with the finest citrus fruits are transported along the city streets. The festival is accompanied by well-known French bands. In the evening, the city is bathed in fireworks and lanterns, also made from lemons and oranges. The festival is also rich in treats. Local chefs know how to cook hundreds of lemon dishes, each of which tastes unique.
