Cheap hostels in MoscowCheap hostels in MoscowPress Archives Inexpensive hotels have always been a weak point. They decided to deal with the problem in the local tourism committee. “We have already asked the prefectures about the possibility of providing premises for reconstruction and the creation of such hotels, we are waiting for a response from them,” said the chairman of the capital committee Sergei Shpilko. The non-profit organization Union of Hostels plans to cooperate with officials. By the end of the year, they want to unite all Russian economy-class hotels into a single network. Today in 18 cities of Russia there are more than 120 hostels, most of which are located in St. Petersburg. Moscow has 2.3 thousand beds in economy hotels. Sergei Shpilko believes that the capital needs 6,200 hostels. Several new budget hotels will open in Moscow this year. One of them will be located in Stoleshnikov Lane and will be part of the Vash Hotel chain. Sergei Shpilko notes that the city authorities, which recently regained the status of the capital of billionaires, are in no hurry to allocate premises for cheap hotels, and businessmen to invest money in this, as they consider it unprofitable.
