Cheap hostels in MoscowCheap hostels in MoscowPhoto:Press Service ArchivesBudget hotels have always been a weak point. The local tourism committee decided to combat the problem. "We have already asked the prefectures about the possibility of providing premises for reconstruction and creation of such hotels, we are waiting for their response," said the chairman of the capital committee, Sergei Shpilko. The non-profit organization "Union of Hostels" plans to cooperate with officials. By the end of the year, they want to unite all Russian economy-class hotels into a single network. Today, there are more than 120 hostels in 18 cities of Russia, most of which are located in St. Petersburg. Moscow has 2.3 thousand beds in economy hotels. Sergei Shpilko believes that the capital needs hostels with 6.2 thousand beds. Several new budget hotels will open in Moscow this year. One of them will be located on Stoleshnikov Lane and will be part of the hotel chain "Your Hotel". Sergey Shpilko notes that the authorities of the city, which recently regained its status as the capital of billionaires, are in no hurry to allocate premises for cheap hotels, and businessmen are not investing money in this, as they consider it unprofitable.
