The star divorce took another step towardslegal separation from her now almost ex-husband Derek Whibley. Avril and Derek were married for three years, and Lavigne recently announced that she was leaving her husband. Now this breakup is obviously inevitable. Lavigne cites irreconcilable life differences as the reason for the separation. She filed a lawsuit against Whibley for spousal support. Avril left Derek back in September, but then she stated that it was not forever, they just needed a break in their relationship. Derek and I were together for almost 7 years.
