Sample DietDid you know thatWhat do the inhabitants of Crete, the Japanese island of Okinawa, the Caucasus, the Vilcabamba Valley in Ecuador and the Hunza Valley in Pakistan have in common? They have a much better chance of living a whole century than we Europeans. In Okinawa, out of 100,000 people, 47 people live to be a hundred, compared to a measly ten in Western European countries. The same thing: out of 100,000 residents, only 9 fatal cases from cardiovascular diseases were recorded, while in the USA there are more than 400! What is the reason? Healthy heredity? Secret recipes? Not at all. It has been scientifically proven that the secret of a large population of long-livers is a healthy lifestyle. If there is a miracle, then it is entirely rational, because it depends only on the diet, that is, what people eat. This fact made a strong impression on the famous French nutritionist Jacques Fricker and his co-author Dominique Lati. Walking through a market (not just anywhere, but in Moscow), the girl, who was seriously interested in cooking, discovered on the shelves of Georgian sellers products that are also typical for Crete: garlic, beans, grains, cereals, walnuts, sheep's milk and sour milk. Intrigued by such a coincidence, she became interested in Georgian cuisine and discovered that in the Caucasus, out of 100,000 residents, 51 celebrated their centenary, breaking the record of Okinawa! This was the beginning of the study: in the process of searching, Dominique Lati came across articles about long-livers from Vilcabamba in Ecuador, then from the Hunza Valley in Pakistan. The situation in these parts is the same as in Crete, the Caucasus and Okinawa: the population eats right, which means they don’t get fat, which means they are always in great shape, which means they live longer. Having discovered such a simple pattern, our nutritionists decided to describe all the mentioned “diets” (here this word is used literally, as a “way of eating”), providing them with advice and recipes. Conclusion: in order to eat right every day, you don’t have to go to the Vilcabamba Valley, even if you live in a big city, leave work no earlier than seven in the evening and buy groceries at the nearest supermarket or “Auchan”. So, everything in order…
