The exposition of beluga and stellate sturgeon is a real treasure of the Volga depths, which at one time the fish capital of Russia was proud. The funds were created with the help of enthusiasts and experts in this relict aquaculture. They donated their photo archives, handicrafts, models to the museum, and fish farms donated live exhibits. As a result, the Astrakhan Museum became the custodian of the world's only living sturgeon collection. Viktor Chipinov, Senior Researcher at the Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, says: “This planting material is inexpensive and available to every farmer, technologies are also available and you can start industrial commercial sturgeon breeding ... But the uniqueness of this collection lies in the fact that here in one place are collected a variety of representatives of the sturgeon species. There are six of them, there is even a unique Siberian sturgeon, today it is very popular ... ”According to scientists, up to 20 species of sturgeon are widespread on the continents of Asia and America today.
