What are special schools for?

Special babies are born quiteoften, which plunges parents into depression. Some mothers and fathers, having recovered from the initial shock, make efforts to help the baby grow up happy, others try to pretend that they have an ordinary child.types of correctional schoolsTypes of correctional schools are divided according to their featureschildrenPhoto: Getty When a special student enters a regular school environment, he or she cannot fulfill the program requirements. Teachers do not have additional education and do not know what to do with the child. Often, such a child suffers from ridicule in class and becomes withdrawn. The school with correction has the right approach and systematic training. There are 6-15 students in classes. Psychologists-defectologists, teachers and doctors work with the students, who regularly improve their qualifications. The program is aimed at developing potential skills and adapting children.

Educational institutions for children with special needs

There are several types of schools, taking into accountdevelopmental features of children. Some of them operate in a boarding school format, since specialized specialists are not always available in remote areas of the country. The following schools are distinguished:

  • for deaf students;
  • for hearing impaired and deafened at a later age;
  • for the blind and with residual vision;
  • for the visually impaired and have lost their eyesight at a later age;
  • for babies with speech disorders;
  • for babies with disorders of the musculoskeletal system;
  • for children with mental retardation;
  • for mentally retarded kids.

In some serious illnesses, teacherscome to your home. For some groups of children, sanatorium-type schools are suitable. The programs in such schools are focused on developing communication skills, adaptation and acquisition of knowledge. The methods allow developing the residual capabilities of missing functions or replacing them with others. Hearing-impaired students are given the opportunity to "hear" the sound of a musical instrument with the help of vibrations, using their sense of touch.specialIn special classes, children practice skillscommunication and adaptationPhoto: Getty Modern teaching methods allow autists to build relationships with the outside world through pets: horses or dogs. Teachers use art therapy when deaf students play musical performances or dance. With the right approach, kids with cerebral palsy do not differ much in their capabilities from ordinary kids. In addition, a small person finds himself in a benevolent atmosphere, where he does not become an outcast because of his difference from others.

Classes for children lagging behind in development

Developmental delay is not alwayspathology or mental retardation. Some delay may be associated with pregnancy or inattention to the baby. The little person is no different from his peers: well, speech is worse or he started talking later. The main problems begin at school. He catastrophically fails to cope with the school curriculum. "Failures", indignation of teachers and reproaches of parents begin. The baby begins to feel like the worst. Sometimes, parents reward the little person with unflattering epithets: "dumbass", etc. In fact, the baby is simply unable to cope with the program, he needs a remedial class. A psychologist or teacher who has understood the situation can offer parents to transfer the student to a remedial class, but not everyone agrees with this. A remedial class is not a "class of fools", but a place where the student will be helped to master the necessary knowledge. The advantages of such a class:

  • a small number of students, allowing the teacher to pay attention to everyone;
  • teacher training;
  • opportunity to improve their cognitive abilities;
  • opportunity to get a secondary education in an accessible form;
  • transition to a normal class after 2-3 years of work in the correctional.

The latter shows that the correction classis intended for healthy students who were prevented from developing their abilities in time by something. However, a student can complete his/her education in a remedial class, which will not reduce his/her rights to enter a university. Any student has the right to receive a decent education, regardless of his/her developmental characteristics. There are schools or classes for each group of characteristics.
