Should I beat the temperature in children
When a virus enters the body, immunitybegins to produce interferon - a substance that helps destroy pathogens. This process is accompanied by an increase in temperature, so fever is not always bad. On the contrary, this phenomenon indicates that the child has good immunity, independently coping with the disease. And antipyretics weaken the body's defenses, so these drugs should be used in extreme cases. There is no need to bring down the temperature if it is not high anddoes not cause severe discomfort to the baby. But still, babies tolerate heat differently, so you need to focus not on the thermometer readings, but on the child's condition. You should help the child's body in such cases:
- The baby has cold hands and feet in the heat. This phenomenon may be a sign of pre-convulsive state
- The baby is too sluggish, weeping and pale.
- The temperature exceeded 40°C.
- The fever is accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting.
- High temperature lasts more than 3 days.
Pay special attention to the temperature of infants under 3 months of age, as well as fever in babies with heart problems. If the thermometer is above 38°, you should immediately consult a doctor.
How to bring down a child's temperature
If there is a need to bring down a baby's fever, then in no case use "adult" antipyretics such as "Aspirin", because such drugs are very harmful to a growing organism. Much safer and more effective are "Paracetamol" or "Ibuprofen", although the latter drug is better to use if the temperature is accompanied by pain. During treatment, adhere to the following rules:
- Do not give the medicine more than 3 times a day.
- Do not exceed dosage.
- Provide your baby with plenty of warm drink.
- Do not wrap too little baby.
There is no need to panic if your baby's temperature has increasedtemperature during ARVI, because fever is a completely positive sign, indicating that the body has begun to fight the disease. Therefore, you should not give your baby antipyretics for the slightest reason.
