How to understand that the child is full of breast milk?
Signs that a child is getting enough nutrition:– Weekly weight gain is from 120 to 500 grams. – Soft and “empty” breast after feeding. – The baby himself “falls off” the breast and falls asleep peacefully. – A simple test for dehydration: the baby's skin is elastic, taut, with a soft blush. When squeezed, it quickly returns to shape, which cannot be said about dehydrated skin (it will remain wrinkled for several seconds). – The number of normal daily bowel movements of a baby is from 8 to 12 times. – The baby does not ask to eat for 2-3 hours after feeding. Signs of insufficient mother's milk: – Pauses when sucking the breast. – The baby is hungry, asking to eat every 30 minutes. - Crying, capriciousness, weakness. - Restless sleep. - Infrequent urination. - Frequent sucking of fingers or diapers. - Little weight gain. The above signs can also be symptoms of other problems, such as intestinal colic or a runny nose. Observe the baby or consult a pediatrician.
What should I do if my baby does not consume breast milk?
A young mother needs to reconsider her dietyour diet, include at least three hot meals. Porridge, whole grain bread, durum wheat spaghetti, seafood, meat, boiled or stewed vegetables are the foods that should be in the refrigerator. Lactation is affected not only by proper nutrition, but also by the emotional health of the mother. Stress, anxiety, fatigue and postpartum depression can lead to a lack of milk. Do not hesitate to ask grandparents for help, rest, try to sleep with the baby. Systematically apply the baby to the breast, including at night. Give up pacifiers, replace them with a spoon or pipette. Be sure to express the remaining milk to eliminate the risk of mastitis and decreased lactation. Drink water for two. The norm of liquid for a nursing woman is 2 liters per day. Cook compotes, fruit drinks, jelly, infuse rose hips. The second breast should be offered only after the first is completely empty. The thing is that the fat, most nutritious milk is located deeper. The first minutes the baby sucks out light milk, with a high water content and a deficiency of nutrients, and the feeling of satiety quickly passes. It is better to supplement with artificial mixtures during the day, and at night to put to the breast to reduce the likelihood of colic. If after the above recommendations the baby's weight has not increased, consult a specialist. We wish your baby a good appetite! Read also:
