Zoo staff usually advise against it.to come close to the cages where our closest relatives from the animal world are kept. A monkey can easily pull off your scarf, rip off your glasses, smear your lipstick or scratch you. Attacks of aggression are not uncommon among these cute-looking animals. That is why at Colchester Zoo, monkeys sit in an enclosure separated from visitors by a strong transparent wall: this way, you can look at the primates up close without exposing yourself to danger. A young couple once went to this zoo: 20-year-old Kylie Bettany and her husband Kieran. Kylie was then in her last month of pregnancy. She did not think that she herself would become the subject of close attention for the animals. It turns out that while she was looking at the orangutans, they were looking at her. And one of the inhabitants of the enclosure, a male named Rajah, came right up to the glass and began to examine Kylie's belly. "Look, he's trying to play with you," Kylie's husband began to film what was happening on camera, and the woman decided to play along with the monkey and lifted her sweater, showing the orangutan her bare belly. What the animal did next touched the 17 million people who watched the video. First, Rajah stroked Kylie's belly through the glass. Then he put his ear to it, as if trying to hear the heartbeat of the unborn child. And then he even began to kiss him! "We didn't think he would react like that," the excited parents said later. "Raja even had tears in his eyes. It was just amazing."
