How to understand that a child is ready for change

The main signs that the baby can be startedaccustom to visits to the potty or toilet, such as: the child sits independently and confidently, there are no problems with the spine and internal organs; a certain routine of defecation has been developed - after sleep, before sleep, after or before meals, walks; the child can do "without accidents" for two or more hours; the baby makes it clear that he does not like a dirty / wet diaper (by screaming, crying, trying to take it off); the baby is already trying to put on or take off his pants on his own. You should not expect a one-year-old baby to be aware of needs, but the feeling of discomfort from moisture or dirt is already quite accessible to him - and this should be used. In this case, it is advisable to first figure out how during the day, and only then decide on the issue of maintaining dryness at night.

How quickly to wean from a diaper?

Probably the most correct answer would be: no way!You should not rush things and expect a one-year-old to immediately understand the actions of the parents. Several weeks and even months may pass from the moment you start trying to wean until you achieve a stable result. Experienced parents advise to stock up on patience and a lot of clothes, especially in the cold season, when washed clothes take a long time to dry. However, it is generally better to start potty training your baby in the summer to avoid colds. The main thing is to make the child understand and reinforce the inconvenience of being in wet or dirty clothes. To do this, after removing the diaper and the usual "pee" in the pants, you should leave the baby in the wet for a while. Only after he understands and shows dissatisfaction, he should be changed. It is recommended to accompany the placement on the potty with rewards (not treats or toys, but moral ones), as well as attempts to ask to go to the toilet. In no case should you yell or punish your baby for wet pants! After your baby gets used to the need for potty visits, you can think about how to wean your child off night diapers, but here you also need to mentally prepare for the increased volume of laundry and nighttime changes for several weeks.
