To survive the death of a child is one of the most difficulttests in life. Even if the child is an adoptive. Libyan Mohammed Bzik, who lives in Los Angeles, has already buried ten children. Everyone lives well in his house. The matter is that only the sickly children are adopted by Mohammed: "There are more than 35,000 children registered in the Los Angeles Department of Family and Children, and 600 of them need medical assistance. And Mohammed is the only adoptive parent who is not afraid to adopt sick children, "said Rosella Juzif, assistant to the regional administrator of health insurance services, in an interview with the American magazine Hello.
The daughter lived only a week
It all started back in the 80s, when Mohammedmet his future wife Dawn Bzeek. While still a student, she took care of children who had found themselves in difficult life situations. After Mohammed married Dawn, they adopted several more sick children.Photo:Getty ImagesThe first death occurred in 1991 – a girl with a terrible spinal pathology died. Doctors never promised that the baby's life would be easy or long, but the couple decided to adopt the girl anyway. Don and Mohammed spent several months recovering, and then decided that they would only adopt "special" children. "Yes, we knew that they were seriously ill and would soon die, but we wanted to do everything possible for them, to give them a happy life. It doesn't matter how long – years or weeks," Mohammed said. One of the adopted girls lived only a week after she was taken from the hospital. The couple ordered clothes for their daughter's burial in a studio, because the size was like a doll's, the girl was so small.
"I love every foster child as my own"
In 1997, Dawn gave birth to her own child.Son Adam was born with a congenital pathology, which the couple's entourage found a mockery of fate. Now Adam is already 20 years old, but he weighs no more than three dozen kilograms: the boy has imperfect osteogenesis. This means that his bones are very fragile and can break literally from touch. His parents told him that his brothers and sisters are also special and he needs to be stronger. Since then, Mohammed has buried his own wife and nine adopted children. Now Mohammed is single-handedly raising his own son and a seven-year-old girl who suffers from a rare brain defect called craniocerebral hernia. She is a very unusual child: her arms and legs are paralyzed, the girl does not hear or see anything. Bzik is a real father to her, because he took the girl from the hospital when she was only a month old. And since then he has been doing everything possible to make her life more comfortable and happier. "I know that she does not hear or see, but I still talk to her. I hold her hand, I play with her. She has feelings, a soul." Mohammed told The Times that he has already buried three children who had the same diagnosis. The state helps the man support the children, paying $1,700 a month. But this is barely enough, because they need expensive medications and often treatment in clinics. "I know that the children will soon die. Despite this, I want to give them love, so that they live in a home, and not in an orphanage. I love each child as if they were my own."
