Read the poem out loud at least 3 times. It is necessary to read loudly, slowly and with expression, pondering on every word.
Create pictures that illustrate the plot of the verse and remember them.

Rewrite the verse on paper, pronouncing aloud each line.

How to memorize a long and complex verse

The rules we have described are effective forlearning poems of short classical forms. But schoolchildren often have to learn poems that take up more than one page. In this case, you need to take note of the following tips:

Carefully read the material, analyzing the plot and images. It is useful to come up with illustrations for the poem.
Rewrite the verse, repeating each line out loud.
Learn only the poem rewritten by the hand.
Start by memorizing the first fragment. Repeat should be as long as the words are not stored in memory.
Learn the next passage and add to the first one. After learning each next piece of text, you need to add it to the previous fragments and pronounce the verse from the very beginning.
Take short breaks after 3-4 quatrains.
Repeat the learned verse several times a day and always at bedtime.
In the morning, tell the verse without rereading it.

Long poems need to be learned firstin advance, at least 2 days before the exam, so that they are well imprinted in your memory. Regular training and learning poems by heart gradually reduces the time of memorization, and learning poems becomes much easier.
