Let's argue?

The tradition of ironing diapers, rompers and undershirtscomes from the times when our grandmothers had to wash by hand. A hot iron destroyed the microbes remaining after washing. But nowadays there are washing machines in which you can wash children's clothes at a high temperature. Therefore, the question of ironing a child's clothes causes a lot of controversy. Some pediatricians believe that it is really necessary to thoroughly iron babies' clothes in order to destroy bacteria remaining on the surface of children's clothes and diapers after washing or drying. But the famous (and very authoritative) doctor Komarovsky believes that ironing clothes is simply satisfying the parents' needs for beauty. That is, you need to iron, but only so that the clothes look neat. After all, it is really nice.iron children's thingsPhoto: GettyImagesBut there are some points that speak in favor of the fact that the things kids need to iron before donning:

  • ironing with steam allows you to kill germs that have fallen on children's clothing during drying on the street or balcony;
  • with ironing, you remove the remains of detergents that can cause an allergic reaction in the child;
  • until the umbilical wound has healed, it is better to be safe and still iron things;
  • seams on children's clothes after ironing become softer and do not rub the delicate skin of the baby.

Technical approach

First of all, you will need a good iron anda convenient ironing board. It's not that they kill germs better, but this way you'll make a rather tedious and energy-consuming process at least a little more comfortable for yourself. It's even better if your household helps you with this. After all, mommy has plenty to do anyway. But there are also purely technical nuances:

  • first you need to sort things by type of fabric and temperature regime;
  • Cotton things can be moistened with water from an atomizer, and it is better to use the steam mode on the iron in order to most effectively destroy all bacteria;
  • things after ironing should be allowed to cool down in a straightened form, only then they can be folded and sent to the closet.

By the way, a little life hack:Instead of an iron, you can use a steamer, which perfectly straightens out the fabric and kills bacteria. In addition, it can be used not only for clothing care. The steamer also makes other household chores easier: it cleans tiles, floors, bathrooms, even windows. Now you know how to iron baby clothes for newborns correctly. But whether to do this or not is up to the mother herself. It is hardly worth spending all your energy on this process: for a baby, time spent in contact with mom is probably more important than the absence of creases in clothes. Read on:
