Story-role and mobile games for children with cerebral palsy

Children with cerebral palsy experience problems not only withcoordination of movements and muscle development. Often, mental development lags behind in sick children. To solve such problems, educational, didactic and other games are used during the educational or training process. They differ for healthy children and children with developmental problems.Games for children with cerebral palsy stimulate their developmentGames for children with cerebral palsy stimulate their development Photo: Getty The following games are used in the education of patients with cerebral palsy:

  • "The ball is rolling down the hill."Suitable for preschoolers. Two children participate - one rolls the ball down the slide, and the other must catch it from below. Each time, the children must change places. The game helps develop coordination of movements, strengthens muscles and improves joint mobility.
  • "Don't hit the obstacle."Make a gate out of four chairs, and the size of the passage should be 0.5 meters. The children must overcome the obstacle without touching or knocking anything down. At first, the kids play with their eyes open, and then with their eyes closed. Suitable for patients aged 5-14. The older the age, the narrower the passage should be. The game teaches concentration.
  • "Snowflakes".This is a role-playing game in which children are divided into two groups: one plays the role of snowflakes, the other - the wind. The instructor is frost. The "snowflakes" stand on their tiptoes and walk smoothly around the playroom. With the words "frost has come", they kneel down and cover their heads with their hands. And when the instructor says "the summer breeze is blowing", the children stand back up and twirl in a snowflake dance.

All the above games are necessarily carried out under the supervision of adults. If there are children who cannot stand, they are helped to perform the necessary movements.

Developing exercises for fingers in children with infantile cerebral palsy

Particular attention is paid to the development of fine motor skills of the hands. The following exercises are used for this:

  • Extend your hand forward, squeeze your fingers into a fist and turn with your brush. Repeat 5-6 times.
  • Hand stretch, squeeze all fingers except the middle and index. They need to be bent and unbent in turn. Repeat 6-7 times for each hand.
  • Push your thumb on all the other fingers until the child feels fatigue in his hand.

The number of repetitions increases with age.The child must do gymnastics of his own free will, he cannot be forced. Of course, it is impossible to completely cure a child with cerebral palsy with the help of games. But they contribute to improving his health and developing his thinking.
