As a child, I hated sport. This was due to physical culture. Each lesson is 40 minutes of shame. Jumping across the bar, throwing the ball, running at speed - everywhere I was last. Once I dislocated my leg, jumping over a goat, and this projectile became my main nightmare. But I still got off lightly. Here, for example, is the case in Chita, which occurred a week ago. The third-grade student broke her spine during a somersault. Later the girl confessed: she did not want to do this exercise, but the teacher forced, threatening to put a deuce. Under fear of shameful evaluation, the honored girl risked a somersault. Now she is riveted for a few months to bed. But the figures from the official statistics: over the past year in our country in the classroom physical education killed 211 children. So many people are typed into the whole rural school. And if you take into account that in the school year 175 days, it turns out that every day somewhere in Russia at the physical education class one or two children died.Photo:Getty ImagesActivists from St. Petersburg have decided that the approach to physical education in schools needs to be changed urgently. They have asked Russian Education Minister Olga Vasilyeva to review the grading system. “No twos or threes,” says Dmitry Kurdesov, head of the public movement “For Safety,” and also the father of two schoolchildren. “Children are different; if one child can meet the standards, another, for various reasons, cannot. In our opinion, every child who goes to physical education classes and tries hard is already worthy of an A. And if a student cannot or is afraid to do some exercises, the teacher should not insist. There is no point in comparing children who grew up in Soviet times with today’s schoolchildren, Kurdesov is sure. Back then, all the sections were free, and computers were not known then. Therefore, children spent all their free time not in front of computer screens, but at stadiums and sports grounds. — If the muscles are not prepared, there is no muscle memory, and the child is forced to pass some standards once a month, the body may fail and the physical education lesson will end in injuries, — says Dmitry Kurdesov. The activist asks to review the standards. Too much is demanded of students today. — In secondary school, children should undergo general physical training. Light, in a playful way, so that students can unload the brain after mental stress, — says Kurdesov. — And let the standards remain in schools with a sports focus, including Olympic reserve schools. According to Kurdesov, teachers cannot be blamed alone for incidents that happen in physical education classes. — Every year, teachers should be sent for retraining, — says the activist. — And perhaps it is worthwhile to completely abandon grades in physical education classes, so that children are not subject to so many demands. Should anything be changed in physical education classes?

  • No, it's not necessary. Everything is fine as is.
  • Physical education should be made an optional subject.
  • Exercise from the program is not cleaned, but the evaluation is canceled.
