Are disposable diapers harmful for newborns?
The press often publishes articles dedicated toharmful effects of diapers. Citing the findings of German scientists, journalists claim that disposable diapers make men impotent. In fact, studies conducted in Germany have only suggested that wearing diapers may affect the quality of sperm in the future. It is impossible to prove that a particular man's impotence is associated with this factor. Too many factors influence the increase in male infertility, from environmental degradation to a sedentary lifestyle.Diapers for boys are convenient and safePhoto: Getty The arguments of the supporters of this theory are related to the high temperature and steam effect of disposable diapers, there are the following comments on this:
- Infants under 7 years of age have not even formed tubules, which must pass the sperm.
- Long-term exposure to high temperatures on the scrotummen slows down the movement of spermatozoa, but does not stop their movement. An experiment was conducted on a group of volunteers, which proved that daily immersion of the scrotum for 30 minutes in water at a temperature of 45ºC reduces the activity of spermatozoa only after 2 weeks. The temperature in diapers physically cannot rise to these limits.
- The temperature difference between regular and disposable diapers is 1°C.
- Men in hot countries are exposed to overheating for a long time, but this does not affect men's functions.
- Boys with cryptorchidism - whose testicles are notdescended into the scrotum, do not have pathologies if they had surgery before the age of 2. At the same time, the temperature in the peritoneum, where the testicle was "stored" before the surgery, is much higher than in the diaper.
Thus, we can conclude that diapers themselves cannot negatively affect the future man.
What is the difference between diapers and whether they can be chosen correctly
Disposable diapers are produced in many countries. They differ in the composition of the absorbent material and parameters:
- choose "men's" diapers;
- pay attention to the size and weight on the package;
- do not keep the child in them all day;
- when changing diapers, leave the baby to "air out" for a bit;
- do not buy diapers with odors;
- After 1 year, switch to "panties".
Disposable diapers absorb moisture better,than regular ones, so they cannot have a "greenhouse" effect. Whether disposable diapers are dangerous for a boy, decide for yourself. There is no evidence of the bad influence of this convenient accessory.
