Baptism during the Great and Christmas Eve
The Orthodox Church does not forbid the baptizing of childrenon the eve of Easter or Christmas. But in this case, parents will need to observe some restrictions when celebrating this significant event.

Thus, the food on the table should be lean,and the celebration itself is modest. If the christening fell on a Sunday or on a large church feast, for example, the Annunciation, then it is allowed to drink a little wine. If the parents are not able to observe such conditions, then it is better to postpone the christening. It is not necessary immediately after the sacrament of baptism to commit a new sin immediately.
Baptism of the newborn
Despite the fact that the child does not have a consciousfaith, this does not prevent him from baptizing him in infancy. The child is baptized according to the faith of parents and followers. In this case, parents and godparents will develop in the child faith in God from early childhood. It is important that both parents and followers be believers, Orthodox Christians. The godparents vouch for the baby, they are obliged to make him a participant in the Orthodox faith.

The laws of the Christian Church do not have certaindates, intended for christenings. Among the Orthodox, there was a tradition to baptize an infant on the 40th day after birth, but this is only a custom. This can be done both earlier and later. But do not delay and postpone this holiday for a long time, if there is no extreme need. The christening can take place on weekdays or on weekends. Priests can refuse to perform the Sacrament on weekdays for technical reasons. During the preparation for the Church holidays, they spend most of the time worshiping. The lack of a technical capability can lead to a temporary abandonment of the treba. Then the baptism is performed on a Saturday or Sunday, when the services are much shorter than everyday ones.
