The best food for the barbs will be frozen or live daphnia, cortex, tubule and bloodworm. Periodically it is necessary to enrich the menu with greens of wild plants planted with boiling water.

- in the morning, the female lays spawn for 2–3 hours, then the parent fish should be moved to the general aquarium;
- water in spawning should be partially replaced with fresh and treated with methylene blue;
- sweat aquarium for a while;
- after 12 hours, remove unfertilized eggs.
After two days, fish larvae appear, on the 4thday they turn into fry and begin to move intensively. All care from this time consists of systematic feeding and occasional replacement of part of the water. Food for fry should be varied, with a predominance of live food. It is recommended to light the spawning tank around the clock during the first week. By the end of the first month of life, the young acquire all the characteristics of adult fish.
