Propagation of the barbat of Sumatran
If you feed your fish a variety of foods, they willwill definitely want to spawn. The Sumatran barb reaches sexual maturity at 5-9 months. Although separating males and females is not necessary for this species of fish, it is better to do so. This way, the females will be able to collect eggs in a calm atmosphere. The water temperature should be within 22-24°C. In order for the eggs to develop better, it is recommended to enrich the fish menu with food rich in proteins. For spawning, you should prepare a separate aquarium, with a volume of 10 liters, without soil. A separator mesh should be placed on the bottom, and synthetic fiber or Java moss should be used as a substrate. The spawning process occurs in the following sequence:
- in the evening, raise the water temperature in the spawning pool to 26 ° C and place the male and the female there, you do not need to feed them;
- in the morning, the female lays spawn for 2–3 hours, then the parent fish should be moved to the general aquarium;
- water in spawning should be partially replaced with fresh and treated with methylene blue;
- sweat aquarium for a while;
- after 12 hours, remove unfertilized eggs.
After two days, fish larvae appear, on the 4thday they turn into fry and begin to move intensively. All care from this time consists of systematic feeding and occasional replacement of part of the water. Food for fry should be varied, with a predominance of live food. It is recommended to light the spawning tank around the clock during the first week. By the end of the first month of life, the young acquire all the characteristics of adult fish. If life in your aquarium is measured and calm, and you want more movement, get a Sumatran barb. This active fish will change everything very quickly. Read more:
