Shoki is a donkey, whom the volunteers found on onefrom the fields in Ireland. The unfortunate animal was dying: the donkey was lying on the ground with a rope around his neck, his skin was covered with sores and bruises. And the owner "treated" the donkey, watering his wounds with bleach ... Shocks were taken to an animal shelter - "The Donkey Sanctuary" in Birmingham. There he received a new life, saved from ill-treatment. He recovered very slowly. Neither to food, nor to walks, he had no interest. The volunteers even doubted that Shoki would survive. And then Amber appeared.A photo: @ AmbersdonkeyImber's story is even more dramatic. She and her twin sister were born prematurely. When she was born, it became clear that the girl could not breathe. Amber did a tracheotomy to save her life - stuck a tube in the throat to ensure the flow of air. But the operation was not very successful: hooked ligaments. The girl remained mute. In addition, Amber had cerebral palsy. "She struggled to sit up. But she could not. She could not crawl too long, "Father Ember, Julian Ostwick, told the portal. - One of our friends advised us to try pet therapy (treatment through communication with animals.) - WDay Note). We decided to try. "Photo:@AmbersdonkeyThat's how, in 2013, two-year-old Amber met Shoki. It was also the donkey's first therapeutic experience. Amazingly, it was immediately clear: the child and the donkey became friends. "We immediately saw that they had a connection, they were so gentle with each other. Shoki would bend his head towards Amber and let her hug him around the neck. We were a little scared, because the donkey was so big compared to our daughter. But their friendship was simply amazing," the parents said. Shoki encouraged Amber to move, and she became stronger and stronger. She even learned to ride the donkey, and just recently he was barely alive! When the girl turned three, her parents decided on another operation - it was assumed that after it Amber would finally be able to speak. Everything went well, but the girl was silent. And then one day, after another visit to Shoki, a miracle happened. The family was about to leave for home when Amber turned around, ran back to the donkey and said, “I love you, Shockey.” “We were so shocked. It was such a relief to know that she could talk,” the girl’s dad recalls. Amber is now six years old. She has become noticeably healthier and will soon start school. But despite the fact that she has many new things to do, Amber does not forget her best friend. “She comes to him in the arena, takes care of him, hugs him, takes him around the racetrack, and she loves it. They both value the time they spend together. They value their hugs,” the girl’s parents are sure. “We think they have healed each other.”
