What to take with youPhoto: Shutterstock.comLuxury establishments in the UK, many of which have Michelin stars, have started to connect their customers to the BYO (Bring your own bottle) Wine club programme: by becoming a member, a visitor to an expensive establishment saves on drinks, since he or she can bring it themselves. In this way, establishments support their customers during the economic crisis. However, the campaign is not free: participants must pay an annual fee of £99 (€120). However, bringing cheap wine is not allowed: a bottle of wine costing less than £12 (€14.50) may result in a refusal to visit the restaurant. In addition, BYO Wine Club members cannot bring drinks that are on the restaurant’s wine list, and must allow the restaurant sommelier to taste the wine if necessary. Several expensive London restaurants are currently participating in the programme — Tom Aikens (one Michelin star), Ledbury (two Michelin stars), Aubergine, Arbutus (one Michelin star), Club Gascon (one Michelin star), Boisdale. The average bill is about 50 pounds (60 euros) per person excluding drinks. Several restaurants from other UK cities are also participating in the program - Glasgow, Manchester, Edinburgh.
