Decorator Ilya VarentsovRestoration of furniture with their own handsThis tablesuitable for a cottage veranda or a spacious loggia, and in the apartment will not be superfluous. In the living room, sitting behind him, you can play solitaire and drink tea. And in the hallway, he is able to turn into a stand under the phone. The basis was taken round metal coffee table, bought in IKEA. Wooden countertop purchased in the construction market. And further the decorator managed to transform a usual thing into a real masterpiece of manual work. For work you will need:
- white alkyd paint;
- Oil paint;
- acrylic paints, primer and varnish;
- sandpaper or bar;
- stencil;
- patinating and craquelure varnishes;
- flautz;
- brushes of different sizes;
- foam sponge;

1. Before work2-4. First of all, the surface of the table is covered with white alkyd paint and left to dry. And the surface and the end of the table top are treated with an acrylic primer with a roller.5-6.While the primer is still wet, the surface is treated with a hard brush to give it a rough texture. You can make a stencil yourself or buy one. The pattern repeats around the table. 7-8. The pattern details are applied using a stencil and then painted with a brush using acrylic paints. After the paints have dried, the surface is lightly rubbed with a sanding block.9. The end of the table top is tinted.10.The end is first coated in places with ochre acrylic paint, and then lightly wiped with a soft sponge. The surface should look like it has been poorly painted. The main goal is to achieve the effect of an aged surface. 11-12. Using a coarse bristle brush (or toothbrush), the tabletop should be splashed with black paint. This creates the effect of wormholes. And the end should be lightly walked on with a sponge with black paint.13-14. The table is covered with patinating varnish. The varnish should dry for three hours, but not dry until the end. Next, a cracking varnish is applied on the countertop. The resulting cracks are rubbed with paint and coated with a protective varnish.16. On the legs of the table, pre-coated with white oil paint, put a Lessir (transparent) layer of ocher.
